The theme of this month is a compass, because every once in a while, we need to go somewhere alone and quiet to wonder, "Where are we going?" In life, in faith, in relationships. The world should have come with an instruction manual, but all we got is the Bible and our own will. The factor of trust is present in this months story, and will probably be in lots of stories for months to come, simply because of this: faith is all about trust in God. Something you can't physically see, hear, or touch. We can forget ourselves and stray from the right path, but God is there to accept us and our humanity, as long as we love him and recognize Jesus as our savior. In times like the ones I'm going through, currently, we need to pray and ask for guidance. God knows where he's going, even if we don't. So even if things get bad, believe! God will not abandon you, even if you abandon him. He loves you so much and will give you a second chance any time you screw up, because he knows that you can get lost, mislead by temptation, just because you are human. Trust in God, and everything will be okay in the end. That's one thing we can be certain of.
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."
So Jesus told this parable: "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner then over ninety- nine righteous people who need no repentance."
Luke 15, verses 1-8.
