The ten children of Tendring took on the nine men of Nacton. Nacton won the toss, taking my record to 1 out of 12, and choose to bat. Jack only felt up to bowling one over in his first spell before informing me that he couldn't bowl, so Doug and Pete led the charge. Doug bowled tidily, and picked up the Nacton star batsman Warner, whilst Pete bowled a mixture of the sublime and the ridiculous, and got a deserved wicket by bowling Handscombe. Rush and Hutchinson then built the highest partnership of the innings, against some tidy bowling from me and Rutters, and aided by some dropped catches, including two from the somewhat immobile Gibbo. It was left to Matt to pick up two wickets in two overs, and the rest of the innings was used to give the younger bowlers some valuable experience. Jack returned at the end and picked up a wicket clean bowled, with Nacton closing after 35 overs on 136 for 5. With runs needed early to settle the inexperienced batting line-up, the talents of Rutters and Jonny were sent out to open, and they promptly put Nacton to the sword. 74 runs came in the first 13 overs, the only downside being Matt pulling a hamstring whilst fielding for the opposition. Tiredness set into both batsmen, and both slowed before getting out, Rutters for 36 and Jonny for 31. The rest of the batting line-up was left plenty of time to get the remaining sixty runs, and whilst me and Gibbo fell, Doug and Jack finished the game off with 8 overs to spare, to give us a comfortable victory.
