His friends in Jump5 call him "the shy one," but Brandon Hargest has the quiet confidence of a leader. "He's the brainiac," sister Brittany reveals. "And he's more sensitive than the rest of the group." True enough, but Brandon loves performing before huge audiences more than anything. How shy is that? Seeing Brittany light up the stage when they were very young was enough to convince Brandon to pursue the limelight too. Unleashing his natural talent, he quickly followed in her footsteps landing music videos, a gig at Opryland USA and television commercials-including a memorable spot for Garth Brooks' 1998 Double Live CD. Brandon's Jump5 experience has been nothing less than fantastic. "Now, we're even more mature," he says. "And when we perform, we love to see the audience reactions, to see kids having a good time and singing along." When not performing, Brandon can usually be found with a game boy in hand, a sketch pad ("I like to draw Japanese anime," he notes), or with his face buried in a book. As for spending his days with little sister in tow, Brandon has the right attitude. As he points out, "I never feel too far from home because I have someone from my family there."

At 16, Brandon Hargest may be the 'shy one' in Jump5, but he's certainly no wallflower. A performing artist from the time he could walk, Brandon has a hard time deciding which he loves more, the time he spends on stage or meeting the fans after the show. "I love hanging out with my family and friends, going to movies, playing laser tag...normal stuff. But performing and getting to meet the fans-it's so cool to make a difference in someone's life, so that makes me happy." Accelerate, the new album, marks the first time a member of Jump5 has a songwriting credit. Brandon co-wrote "All Because of You," and is pumped to get his first cut. "I've been writing a lot this year, and I've got much to learn, but it's a start!" Currently, when not on the road with Jump5, Brandon can probably be found in his garage, building a recording studio, and with a videogame definitely within arms reach. "One of my goals is to finish the studio in my garage, buy some equipment; to keep writing and start producing some music. Of course, college is another one...someday."

Brandon's favorite thing about the Bible: I like how the Bible is split up in two parts. In the Old Testiment, it talks about Jesus coming to the world and in the New Testiment, Jesus came to this world and it talks about his journeys.


Brandon's favorite theme or story: When it seems that all is lost and then you fully trust in God, everything turns around.


Brandon's favorite verse: John 3:16. It talks about how Jesus died for our sins and it stuck with me after I read it.
