A note from Madison:

Hey Ya'll,

I guess I should start this months topic(growing up) with a verse.  1 Timothy 4:12

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.

I would recommend you memorizing this scripture because I feel it is a very important verse for us youth.

I just now put up my first growing up session(it's about sin) so go look at that.

Also go check out my page, Madison's page and hear what else I have to say about this months topic.

Thanks,

~Madison

A note from Katherine:

Joy

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The Greek word for joy is Chara.

Chara~ rejoicing, gladness, enjoyment, bliss

Then I will go to the alter of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God. Psalms 43:3-4

What is your source for joy? Your friends? Your family? A funny story? A joke? God?

Where does your true joy come from?

Now I honestly want you to think about this. I can’t answer this question for you because I don’t know you. Now if you answered “friends” or "family" to the first question then let’s think about this. Aren’t friends and family great? They're there for you most of the time. But aren’t there times when they can’t be there for you for whatever reason. People let us down in life. It’s inevitable. But God, God is there for you whenever, as long as you let Him be.

…let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. I Chronicles 16:10-11

Project~ This week I want to try something new. Go find a piece of string, some random beads (preferably your favorites), and some scissors. Measure your wrist with the string and arrange the beads on the string. Then tie it on your wrist. Now my challenge for you is to keep it on your wrist all week. For the entire week(I’m doing it too). And every time you look at this bracelet think of joy. It'll be our joy bracelet. Chara.

God bless!

Katherine

What’s the difference between joy and happiness? Joy is more than happiness. Happiness is a usually a result from your circumstances. Joy, on the other hand, is something that lasts. I read this out of Wikipedia, “Joy is the unconditional state of mind that accompanies fellowship with God.” Isn’t that awesome? That you can attain joy by just hanging out with God? By studying His Word you can have joy that lasts. Nehemiah 8:10 says “…do not sorrow for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.” –Anne Frank
