Noteworthy teams/ robot sites
- Robot Room - This guy's book Robot Building for Beginners started me on robotics. Projects galore.
- Robot Combat - The largest, most comprehensive combat robot site on the net.
- Dave Hylands - A programming master, machinist genius, and champion mini sumo builder shares his stuff. Worth a visit even if you don't build mini sumos.
- Dale's Homemade Robots - Nice robots.
- Murray McKay - This guy shares a considerable amount of information on robotics he has learned.
- Team Parentally Funded - The builder of the *FAMOUS* Lethal Wedgy - well, in my opinion, but he is quite a nice guy. =)
- Team Radicus - The thoroughness of this site in regards to design, build, and event reports is astonishing. Incredible amount of information here.

Electronics/ robotics dealers that we have ordered from:
- Jameco - Very good service and prices.
- Digikey - Extremely wide selection of parts. Friendly telephone people.
- Mark III robot store - Very good prices and service. Small selection of robot parts, mostly add-ons for their Mark III kit.
- Robot Marketplace - Wide selection of robot parts, (mostly combat robot) but we have had ordered from them once and had a very bad experience with their customer service.
- Team Inertia Labs - Also a robot combat store. Sells an antweight robot kit as well as the smallest pnuematics system in existence (to my knowledge).
- Acroname - A company that specializes in robotics, notably sensors. Their service is good.

Materials
- McMaster Carr - I order from these guys all the time and have never been disappointed. Unbelievably wide selection.
- Tiger Metals - A source of *FREE* titanium!!! I'm kidding of course (duh!), but this is where we get ours. Oh by the way, I'll let you in on a dirty little secret, Inertia Labs armored their champion pneumatic launcher bots out of titanium from these people. Unlike most surplus dealers that only deal in large quantities, Tiger metals also sells smaller amounts of titanium for hobbyists.

Special Purpose Calculators. Note that some of these only work with Internet Explorer

- Finding the energy stored in spinning flywheels

- Finding the power of pneumatic launcher bots - The results are very theoretical. This is more suited for helping you design your pneumatics system rather than calculate how high you can toss your oponent.

- Team Cosmos spinning weapon energy calculator

- Material weight calculator – Does plastics and metals.

- Unit Conversion – Astonishing, very complete.

- Torque/ Ah calculator – Tells you a lot about the (theoretical) properties of your robot (battery life, acceleration, speed, pushing ability, etc.). Find it under the tools menu.

- Online metals calculator - Countdown to the next nuclear explosion ;-) and finds weight of metals. Like you didn't know that, but I'll bet you didn't know about the nuclear part. ;-) It doesn't do uranium... drat...

- Weight and specific gravity - From alcohol to potatoes to zinc. Now I know how heavy my line following potatoe robot will be...

- Yet another weight calculator - Yet another metla weight calculator. Now there's no excuse for your overweight sumobot...

- Gear Strength Calculator - This might come in handy.

- Spring Potential Calculator - This is for you if you like taking springs out of pens or are building a project involving springs... Obviously.

- Engineering Fundamentals - There are so many formulas and calculators here that it's impractical to link to each one. Seach the site and see the vast amount of information available here.

Events

- Robothon
- PDXbot
- Western Canadian Robot Games

- Eastern Canadian Robot Games

- Phoenix Area Robotics Experimenters - Hasn't been updated for almost a year, probably dead.
- Atlanta Hobby Robot Club
- Robolymics (Robogames) - Probably the largest robotics event in America. Holds almost every type of contest in existence. Held anually for the past two years (as of 2005).
- Builders Database - Check it out if you plan on hosting or attending an event. Shown here is a list of smaller events (mostly robot combat, but a few autonomous contests pop up from time to time).

Other
- Bot Rank - See which combat robot is the best in the world.

Robots taking over the world. Is this a genuine concern for you? It better be, 'cause its gonna get *WORSE* , here's some ammunition for your argument, as well as possible means of protection when that imminant day comes...

- Robot Invasion Part 1 - So what do you do during a robot invasion? Here's some advice. Note that many of these people build robots, so their advice is quite valid... Not to mention *MY* advice! :-) If you watch closely during the interview with "the underground bunker guy," (Andy Sauro) you will see Peter (in the black sweater and glasses, to the right).
- Robot Insurance - So you can't escape them, you can't defeat them, you can't join them (unless you're a robot), so what's the solution? You insure against them - and for only $4 a month!!! Can you believe that? Sounds like a deal! To some people anyway...                                                            - Evil Killer Robot - Sold, but still in existance, terrorizing some unsuspecting persons... Includes a prototyping board to test evil circuits... It's in California too... Ugh... Silly Stanford students, I hope my insurance covers it...
