The status of the Tree Dedication Program begun in 2006 is uncertain at this time.  I visited the cemetery on Memorial Day, 2008 and was saddened to see many of the trees dedicated either were simply "gone" or were dead.  My apologies to all those who participated in this program and dedicated trees to family members.  I made it a priority at the time I left the Superintendent's position to impress on the board and the remaining staff that the care of these trees and this program was of utmost importance to the families of those who had made the dedications as well as to the city of Trinidad and the cemetery itself. It is my sincere hope that the the cemetery will honor it's responsibility to care for the remaining trees and to continue with the placement of future dedications as well as the replacement of the trees that have not survived.
