Tazi Arabian Stud

Breeding quality coloured arabians you enjoy riding.

Tazi Arabian Stud has evolved over the past 25 something years, seeing many changes as life's priorities have changed.

I started in 1985, while living at Yamegi Stud in Gidgegannup, with the purchase of the stallion Yamegi Adonis, the filly Yamegi Tazi Arabi and soon after, the colt Yamegi Hulin.  Over the following few years Paladin Aarba and Bijou joined the broodmare herd and my first four legged babies started arriving.

Then came marrage and the 'I' became 'we'.  When the two legged babies started arriving in 1994, it was decided to keep only Adonis and Tazi (both of whom were eventually laid to rest in March and February 2008 respectively).

Over the next few years we bought and bred a couple of horses while I searched for the direction I wanted the stud to follow.  In 1998 we spent a year overseas and when we came home I bought the mares Lanaryn Silver Sweetheart (Solly) from Lanaryn Stud and Serroufah Bey (Sofie) from Alphalea Arabians.   In the following years we had a few other horses come and go, meeting different needs while the two legged babies grew up.

Our breeding programme recommenced in 2007 with both mares: Solly and Sofie being put in foal to outside stallions.  Our first foals in seven years were born; a purebred grey filly now owned by Le'Skelle Lodge Arabians, and a derivative chestnut colt now gelded (he was supposed to be a pinto filly).  While we were disappointed not to get colour, we did get two foals with outstanding temperaments, and great conformation.  We also got the direction we were looking for: to own and breed quality coloured arabians with a good temperament, that can also perform under saddle.

So now in 2009:

Our daughter Mollyanne joins me with a key role in helping to run the stud and show the horses; Solly has been sold; Sofie is still with us and is in foal for a 2010 foal; we have a half ownership in a stunning cremello part arabian colt; we have a new bay purebred mare, Lanaryn Passion Bey (Tiffany); a bay purebred filly, Windcharm Lea (Charm); and a chestnut paint filly, PL My Shakin' Conclusion (Coda).   We hope to breed our first coloured foal this coming season.
