Well Done. You Found us.
The Tayside collective of grown men that play 'a kids game' and have the cheek to call it a sport.
Yes, we're talking about Table Football, or if you were born pre-1980, what you might remember as Subbuteo.
If you want to learn more about table football in Tayside then you've come to the right place.
Tayside Kickers are the only club in the Tayside area affiliated to FISTF (Federation of International Sports Table Football).
Basically, this means we can organise tournaments, compete in national and international competitions and get a personal world ranking.
Check out the 'Kickers on Tour' page for the latest news on our foreign adventures.
Who plays?
Currently, our friendly little league consists mainly of adults from Arbroath, Dundee, Perthshire and even as far as Aberdeen.
However, the kids come along too to have fun learning the game without having to worry about results.
We're always looking for new players, volunteers and sponsors to help us promote our club and the game in general.
Our History - A Quick Run Down
The club initially formed in 1991, and because our players lived right across Tayside, that part of the name was the natural choice.
'Kickers' of course comes from football but more so it was 'borrowed' from some German clubs which we came across on a trip that year.
Unfortunately, the club folded in 1994.
Roll on to 2005 and we're back!
By chance, when Steve Bennett was looking through old table soccer boxes in his loft, he found an old jotter with phone numbers of Greg Dand and Gareth Christie. These two had never stopped playing. Steve picked up the phone and contacted Greg. From there a meeting was arranged and Steve played his first games in ten years. Scott Fleming was then re-introduced and more than happy to have a game, then it was a chance meeting in Forfar that he met and persuaded Brian Clark to have a look for his old teams and get involved. Later on we managed to get in touch with Les Bates and through the Scottish Circuit, we picked up the services of Colin Mathews of Aberdeen. Now, we're delighted to have Fraser Bruce in the club too.
More info will be added as and when we have time, but please browse around and feel free to get in touch with any questions.
