Chapter History

The Tau Theta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on August 5, 2003. The chapter primarily represents Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in two regions of Mecklenburg County: Pineville and Matthews. The idea to start this new chapter began with encouragement from Tashyra Harris on October 5, 2002. Soon after, seven other baccalaureate scholars of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. helped to make this idea a reality. The chartering members are:

Felisa Benbow
Angela Duncan
Freda Hamilton Ficklin
Tashyra Harris
Krishanda Holmes
Yolanda Holmes
Tameka Reid
Tyesha Wilson

Prior to National approval, the Regional, and State Directors accepted the combined goals of the chapter These goals are:

Attract and retain new and reclaimed sorors.

Remain active within our community through programs and
community service projects that help others excel through mind,
body, and spirit: paralleling the Z-Hope programmatic thrust.

Support and include other admirable community organizations.

Provide scholarships for underprivileged African American high
  school students.
