Tatting on a Broom
I got this idea whow knows where. LOL I seen those cinnamon brooms at my local dollar store and tried tatting on one of those its not finished yet though lol then my mother found these cute 4" X 6" brooms and asked me if i wanted some, I said sure and figured i could do some tatting on those. Well after about 6 tries i got the pattern perfected. :)
There are only 3 rounds to this and its super simple to do.

You can add beads to the picots as i did or leave them plain. You can make one for every holiday...Red for Valentines day, Green for St. Pattys day, Red - White - Blue for the 4th of july, Bright colors for Spring, Pretty Pastels for Easter...You get the idea lol.
I used a size 10 thread and a 5 needle for this creation.
Round 1:
R: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 cl rw
CH: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 rw
**R: 3 + 3 - 3 - 3 cl rw
CH: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 rw
Rep ** until you have a total of 9 rings
R: 3 + 3 - 3 + 3 cl rw
CH: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 rw
Join last CH to first R, cut - tie - hide ends.
Round 2:
R: 3 +(to any center p on CH of Round1) 3 cl rw
CH: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 rw
Repeat around joining last CH to first R, Cut - tie - hide ends.
Round 3:
R: 3 - 3 + (to any center p on CH of round 2) 3 - 3 cl rw
CH: 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 rw
Repeat around joining last CH to first R. Cut - tie - hide ends.
When your finished just slip this over your broom and your done. Isn't it cute? :) |
