I believe strongly in a hands-on approach to learning and using the world around us to stimulate, encourage and validate that learning.  Therefore, I do not feel that homework packets meet our classroom goals to support what we learn each day.

Although I will not send home a traditional homework packet, I encourage you to work with your child at home.  I appreciate your support at home and will continue to be a resource for you.  I will send home a family craft project once a month as well as other activities that you can do at home that will correlate with what we are learning.  My only request is that you read with your child everyday!!  You may read to your child, have your child read to you or you can take turns reading to each other.

Kindergarten Homework

In weeks to come an important part of our homework will be to read books that we have learned to read in school.  It is extremely important that you do not throw these books away.  Find a safe place to keep these books where your child can go back and read them often.  When a child rereads familiar text it builds fluencey, confidence and reading strategies!

The following books have come home for your child to practice reading:

-School Rules

-In My Ocean

-I See A Fish

When your child reads these books be sure they are: pointing to the words as they read and looking at the words as they read!

Read with your child everyday!!
