Ms. Tassone's Kindergarten Class

Kindergarten Rules

Clifford follows the rules and so do we!!

During the first week of school the students and I will create the classroom rules, to keep us safe and allow us to learn as much as we can. To begin our discussion of rules we will read  Clifford's Manners by Norman Bridwell. We will discuss the rules that Clifford follows in the story and why they are important.

Our classroom rules will be color coded to help the children "read" and remember each rule.  After the children and I decide on our classroom rules a contract will go home for you to read and discuss with your child.  You will then sign the bottom of the contract and return it to school.

Below are the classroom rules that the children and I thought were important for us to have a safe year of learning and fun!  Please be sure to sign your Rules Contract and return it school by Friday, August 22nd.

Red Rule: Always listen to the teachers!

Blue Rule: Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

Orange Rule: Always do your personal best!

Green Rule: Be a good friend.

Every student is capable of having positive interactions and displaying good behavior at school.  Praise, recognition, and rewards encourage students to do their very best.  In addition, a classroom card system will be used to support and monitor each chidl's behavior.  If your child is not following the classroom rules, he/she will be asked to turn their card.  This allows children to take responsibility for their own actions and choices.

Green = good day

Yellow = verbal warning about classroom rules

Orange = lose 5 minutes of recess

Red = lose entire recess and a note goes home to be signed

In addition to the card sytstem, each individual child's needs will be considered and special circumstances may result in removal from the classroom.  If your child is removed from the classroom you will be notified.

Positive Reinforcement

Praise, recognition, and rewards will encourage students to do their very best.  Therefore, each green day your child will recieve a star on their behavior chart.  When the chart is filled with stars your child will choose a prize from the treasure box.

Everyday, students will be recognized for displaying the following behaviors:
