Welcome!

Hello! Welcome to the Samurai Champloo page, dedicated to (who else,) the anime/manga Samurai Champloo! This page is where I put all my thoughts on it, well, not all of it. I was thinking to make a Samurai Champloo fansite or shrine, but I don't think I will be able to update it alot, or be able to put lots of things on it. There also might be extras on this page though, so just keep checking! Anyway, I will have to put some rules and some warnings before writing anything.

.::.Edit.::.

I had just finished the Samurai Champloo series and I can now clearly state that Mugen and Fuu are a couple (yayz! ^^). I will try to add the last 3 episodes (24,25,26) so you guys can see it. For now, I will just write it out. Credits for the episode guide summaries is all the way on the bottom.

Rules

1. First off, THESE ARE MY OPINIONS. Not yours, not the official makers of Samurai Champloo, mines. So, they might be real or they might not. I will say this only once so you better get this in your head!
2. Dont go flaming me on my guestbook about anything I write on this page (or even the other pages) because as I said in my first rule or warning, these are all my opinions and thoughts. If I look on my guestbook and I see something like "OMGZ YOU @#+^*! WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THIS?!" then I will just delete your message and put your name up on my site as a flamer. I'm a nice person but when it comes to flamers who dont read the rules, I can't be a nice person and give chances. Consider this as your final warning.
3. Please, DO NOT steal anything and put it on your site. It would just be better if you put up my site link and say to visit it for something. I'm not the kind of person to be flattered because it shows that you're stealing something from my site. But, if you really want to put something here on your site, just ask me and leave credits. No, saying "Credits to Unknown" is not accepted. Please, dont act like some idiot and put that -_-.
4. If you want, you may put some opinions on what you think about my opinions (no, this isnt consider as flaming). If you say something like "I really like Mugen and Jin together, even if they're guys", then thats exceptional. No more than that. Any more opinions about Mugen and Jin together or something is consider as flaming (unless you're still talking normally about Mugen and Jin or something else but I prefer you not to).
5. If you dont like what you read or see, then please leave this page quickly. Dont flame or give bad comments like "I'm going to puke...".
6. To see if you really read the rules, email me at AZNthuger@aol.com and say "I read the rules" in the subject box and in your email.
7. Okay, I'm kidding, dont email me. Thats not even a real email address!

Read the rules clearly? Double checked it? Then you're finished! Have fun! ^^

Warning- None of this is real or not real, I'm not sure but remember, these are my opinions and thoughts. Dont oppose to it or get all wide-eyed with a "WHAT?!?" look on your face. Being surprised or a little bit shock is exceptional. May contain spoilers from the anime.

Opinions/Thoughts

Mugen and Fuu

First warning, if you dont like Mugen and Fuu together, then please dont read this part of my opinions. If you like these two together or you're able to handle it, then please read on. You might get a little surprise on how long this will be..XD.

Mugen and Fuu is one of the okay and best couples in Samurai Champloo. Well, its the only couple in Samurai Champloo thats boy and girl and 'girl-and-girl' or 'boy-and-boy'. Maybe its not what you think but its what I think. Okay, I guess you dont see so much proof like them blushing by eachother or something but there are slight hints in the anime, in my opinion. Like, on episode 5, when Mugen sees Fuu with the artist Moronobu, Mugen was like "You're playing around with this guy?". A little more of a surprise is that he asked that in a demanded way. Sounds like jealousy, ne?

After Fuu was caught by the Yakuza punks, Mugen is not comfortable that theres no sign of Fuu when night comes. He goes off to Moronobu’s place, finds it deserted and dark, and is poking around for clues (and thumbing through his porn collection, might I add XD) when the punks dump the battered artist at his front door. As soon as the punks go, Mugen corners Moronobu and holds up one of his pencil sketches of Fuu. Mugen asked Moronobu where Fuu was and he replied in a wail that he has to save her before she gets sold. Mugen goes all shock and has that silent face saying the word "Sold?!?" all over it (no, it was not written on his face but you get the picture).

After Moronobu spills the beans, Mugen takes off at top gallop and catches the boat with Fuu’s barrel in it, jumps off a bridge and kicks the daylights out of the yakuza punks a third time; one grabs Fuu and escapes. Mugen chases him down and with single-minded determination kicks his way through walls and doors to reach the final punk. The police officer Manzou scoops up Fuu and declares that he’s solved the case, matching Fuu to her portrait from the gallery. Afterwards, just regular things and then the end.

Another episode with lots of Mugen and Fuu moments is on episode 21 and 22. When Sara and Mugen was in the hot springs together, Fuu spies on them and then she hollars to Mugen to get out of there. Mugen, as idiotic as he can be, suddenly stands up and says "I didnt do anything to her!" (which is true) without a towel on so Fuu had to close her eyes. When Mugen was getting out of the hot springs, he was like "As if you have anything to show," while passing where Fuu was hiding and then, "Right!?!" he suddenly said and went right where Fuu was hiding. Fuu jumped abit since she also didnt have a towel on so Mugen saw her and found her hiding spot.

After Fuu found out that Mugen didnt do anything to Sara, she went to where Jin and Mugen was and with a blush (yay, first time!), she said "Im sorry" and left. Mugen didnt understand what she meant (sigh.....MUGEN!!!!-__-).

When Fuu and Sara was sleeping in their room, Sara asked Fuu who she would never want part with after the journey to find the Samurai who smells of sunflowers. Fuu flusters again and say she doesnt have that sort of relationship him (in the anime, it was said them but I think she meant seperately, because she cant 'love' both of them) and hides under the covers.

After Sara talked to Fuu by the river and now everyone was at the vendors of a street fair, Sara asks Mugen if he would look for something a little boy would like. So, Mugen grabs a kid passing by and asked what he would like. The boy replies that he would want his sword, which caused Mugen to say he would slice him with it (Mugen...you are really making yourself look stupid..) while letting him go. Mugen then calls Fuu for the help of the question but she runs off.

Sara wanted to borrow one of Fuu's bodyguards for her journey. "I want one of them to come along, Mugen or Jin, whichever," she says, causing Fuu to get upset since she didnt want to part with any of them. So, the next morning, when everyone was eating, Fuu makes up her mind and calls for attention. She then says Jin to go with Sara on her journey. Mugen then rails "What? What about me?!?". Fuu replies that its dangerous for him to go with her and that Jin wouldnt do all those kind of things. Fuu explains to Jin why and Jin agrees to go, with Mugen strongly disagreeing but everyone ignored him of course.

So…sunset…they come to a fork in the road, Jin and Sara, and Mugen and Fuu. Sara bows to Fuu and tells her "thank you for taking care of me". Jin is impassive as ever and Mugen picks his nose, pointedly dismissing the moment. Fuu then says bravely, it would be great if we could meet again sometime. Jin smiles slightly, says goodbye and good luck, turns and goes, Sara follows him. "Be in good health!" Fuu calls after them, waving. Once they're out of sight Mugen grumbles "that guy sure left easily." Fuu suddenly bursts into tears while saying she couldnt believe this. Mugen looks puzzled. "For him to accept so easily, after we've been together this long...I thought Jin would refuse!" Fuu wailed. "So did I--I wanted to be with her" growls Mugen. (There's a suggestion of "And if it was me, you’d be glad to be rid of me?") Mugen stomps off, yelling at her to stop crying. [You can stop now, Mugen, we all see through you.]"Meanie! Baka!" sobs Fuu, trotting after him…

Okay, I will stop with all these episode proof since this will take forever but from reading, you can see slight hints, right? Fuu and Mugen are always fighting over things since Mugen is irritated of Fuu talking alot and Fuu is irritated of Mugen's perverted and idiot ways to do things. Though, when this turns into a habit, you cant let it go and without it, you feel uncomfortable until it comes back to how it was before. Well, this is what Mugen and Fuu feels and this might be what makes them have feelings for eachother.

.::.Edit.::.

The biggest proof of Mugen and Fuu together is on the 3 last episodes of Samurai Champloo. Here is some parts of when it shows some Mugen and Fuu moments in the last 3 episodes (these are all cut in bits and pieces) :

Later: Jin wakes sensing Fuu's not with them. She's out of bed and by the river. Jin comes over to ask if anything's up. Nothing, nothing at all, she says. Fuu, says Jin [no -san, -chan, whatever... pretty informal and affectionate; it's also the first time he's ever called her by name.] --what do you intend to do once you meet the sunflower-scented samurai? You're right, I guess I have to decide, she says. Jin, hesitantly: "If I..." Fuu: "I just...don't want to think about that...because Mugen is..." she smiles a little, looks wistful then sad, lowers her head. I'm sorry, she says, and leans into him, half-embraces him, resting her head on his chest. Jin lays a hand on her shoulder, closes his eyes; they stand there; the tone is sad and gentle. Mugen's not asleep, eyes slitted half-open.

Morning: Our rather subdued trio trudge through the woods and suddenly find themselves on a ridge overlooking the city. At a restaurant, a chatty waiter tells them where to catch the ferry to Ikutsuki Island, and serves them shabushabu, which they peer at dubiously until he explains how the dish should be prepared. Well, a lot of foreigners do eat here, says Jin… (--it's thinly sliced raw beef served with a bowl of boiling hot broth and a side of veggies; you dip the raw meat in the hot broth till it's semi-cooked, then eat it.) The guys eventually decide it’s pretty good--even non-red-meat eater Jin-- despite Fuu griping at them that they should alternate meat and vegetables instead of just cramming down all the beef, which causes Mugen to call her nakebugyo, "stew magistrate" [soup Nazi? = )].

They reach the ferry dock and Fuu says she forgot to buy a souvenir--the castillo (sponge cake) they mentioned all the way back at the end of #17. Both of you go get it, she orders. She shoves her pink change purse into Mugen's chest and hurries them off, saying she'll negotiate the ferry fee while they're gone. What's that about, mutters Mugen, and pushes the purse at Jin. Fuu stands watching them go with a gentle smile… [though, this doesnt really show but hey, Fuu shoved the purse in Mugen's chest, when he was the one she didnt trust in the beginning...= )].

(after some bizarre scenes....blip beep blip, I'm skipping...)

Mugen, getting to his feet, hears Gollum's weird chuckle. What the hell are you? -- Mugen, it says, we have the girl. (Both M&J react to this.) Come to the church on the island. What?-Fuck, we're busy!--snaps Mugen. If you don't come in a hurry I don't know what will happen to her; you'd better go, before that girl is cut into pieces, says Gollum, and leaps away. Mugen cusses; Jin says "Go." Huh?! I'll take care of this, says Jin, eyes fixed on Kariya. Mugen bristles, hating to leave the fight: you go, he growls. Jin's gaze is narrow and calm; flashback to his riverside conversation with Fuu; "take care of Fuu," he says. Mugen is completely taken aback. (You will recall that he was awake through that conversation.)

We draw back and look at them: Mugen standing with clenched fists, Jin poised on the wall aimed at Kariya, the assassin sitting in the road. What's happened, Kariya asks; which of you is to be my opponent? Mugen stares at Jin, torn; he grits out "Don't go dying on your own," and gallops down to the ferry landing. You still have to fight with me!--he yells back, and leaps onto the ferry as it pulls up, ordering the startled ferryman to get the boat moving pronto. Jin looks after him with a knowing and rueful little smile that speaks volumes. The ferry poles away, Jin watches it go, and then he's left with Kariya.

(after Mugen kills the idiot Gollum and finally reaches the place where Fuu is held captive...)

Fuu hangs her head; suddenly hears the familiar clip-clop of metal-clad geta on the rocks outside; her eyes open and she sees Mugen appear in the doorway. Mugen, she gasps, astonished. I'm taking her back, Mugen tells Patch. At last we meet, I'm so glad, snickers the scytheman.

Mugen looks determined and beautiful, hair down, keen-eyed, claw slashes bleeding on his cheek. Who are you guys, he asks. Don't play dumb; retorts Patch; even if you've forgotten, we three brothers will remember until we die. Flashback: they were all Satsuma-han, men with a chance to advance through the ranks, until Mugen with Mukuro's pirates raided their sugar ship. Mugen personally accounted for wheelchair guy's leg, Patch's eye, and presumably Gollum's hand (and sanity). They were held responsible and driven from the Satsuma-han, and their hopes of becoming officers vanished. Since then they've lived for nothing but Mugen's death.. Oh, that one brother of yours; I've already sent him to the bottom of the sea, says Mugen with a deadly smile.

You! --howls Patch, and swings the scythe down behind Fuu's head. You understand--we care nothing about this girl's life. Wait, says Mugen, drawing his sword; I'll throw away this sword, just let her go. What?! He throws it; it flies spinning end-over-end and chops into the cross at Fuu's side, cutting her bonds, which fall to her feet. (Sugoi.=) Fuu steps clear, battered, stunned. No…she says. Just go, says Mugen, voice quiet and tired. You haven't seen the Sunflower Samurai yet, right? I can't go, she cries. Screw that, he says roughly, you know what we came all this way for. Just hurry up and go. Fuu's lip quivers: but, Mugen will… I won't die, he tells her, trust me. She moves forward, looks back, torn. Go, he says, and when she still hesitates, he yells at her: Run! Off she goes.

Patch giggles; he's sounding more unhinged by the second. You make me cry, he says, throwing away your life for a girl. Mugen gazes at him in stony calm, looking almost like Jin. The chain scythe flies out and wraps around Mugen's arm, throwing him to the floor. Then, a slow death, as you wish, Patch says.

And I guess thats the end of the proof. The last proof is that when Mugen sees the spirit world and thinks he will finally die, instead, he finds Fuu and then he wakes up. Fuu's happy that hes still alive and Mugen thought she died (sigh....). Fuu then says that all shes been doing was crying and she thought she could be able to go on by herself. Mugen then calls her an idiot, and after that, its just a regular 'pitiful' scene of Mugen and Jin fighting, which was only 2 seconds until they fall (their swords also broke in half).

So, in the end, I WAS RIGHT!!! Whee!!! You may wonder how the heck in the beginning did I think of Mugen and Fuu together and its just that..I had this feeling they should be together. I mean, Jin seems like the quiet type and isnt really the falling in love kind of guy so I thought Mugen and Fuu together would be great. I was really hoping they would be together, I mean, it felt like they should...and it actually happens. One of my couple predicting is true!

I will soon try to add the last 3 episodes here so you can see ^^.

Mugen and Jin

For Mugen and Jin, I think of them only as friends. I'm sorry to all these MugenxJin lovers but...I just dont support them liking eachother. I mean, really, where does it say that they like eachother in that sort of way? They are only friends and rivals at the same time, to my opinion. Now, they say they want to kill eachother so, if they do love eachother, I dont think they will be killing eachother. And, if you have one proof that they do love eachother, you can go and email me right now where it is. Yeah, they might have similarities but thats all. They are only mere friends and rivals. NOTHING MORE. No, I'm not flaming to all MugenxJin fans, I'm just saying in my opinion. If I was flaming, I would be like "OMG YOU %^*^_ HOW THE HECK CAN YOU MAKE THESE TWO AS A COUPLE?!!" but as you can see, I'm not saying that, I'm just pointing out that there is no proof that Mugen and Jin are a couple, its just in your head that you have these ideas, I think.

Jin and Fuu

Now, there is almost no proof that they are a couple but they are best friends, that is what I can say. Jin never says or talks about himself to Fuu and this is true because in episode 12 when Jin and Mugen reads Fuu's diary, she says that Jin never said anything to her while Fuu was still blabbing on and on and all he replied was "Hmm" and "Mmm". Jin talks to Fuu about whats up in his mind at the moment or what is right and wrong and thats all. He also is just concerned with Fuu as friends when shes all troubled (hey, Jin is an opposite of Mugen). Jin also doesnt pry in when Fuu just says nothing is wrong because he knows it would make Fuu all mad at him.

My opinion on Jin is that he doesnt need someone to love. Maybe on episode 11 he falls in love with this woman but it only mentions her one time and the rest of the series it doesnt (kinda like Jin moved on and forgot about her). Jin is a quiet type of person and he can be intelligent when times go serious and he can go all hopeless when times are not needed to be serious. Hes one of my favorite characters in Samurai Champloo because of this. Though, Mugen and Fuu is also my favorite characters, I think Jin is my most favorite. I'm also pissed that the American version changed his name into 'Jeen'. That just doesnt match him.

(Credits to Amalgam--a Samurai Champloo Site for all the episode guide summaries. The rest is my opinions XP.)
