Tantra Bensko: Lucid Fiction

New genre of fiction: new genre of reality

Something To Say Yes To

Would you like a well-published writer used to teaching, who will pay attention to your body of work as a whole, delving into your unique themes and your particular goals, suggesting magazines to send individual pieces to, paying attention to what your particular best way of communicating and and learning are, coaching you in all aspects of the writer's life, such as your bio as it fits different types of magazines you submit to, looking at the works of other writers, and more?

I offer one on one teaching in person in San Francisco, or online, and via Skype if you have a webcam, or want to talk with actual voices through free phone calls overseas, or through written work on paper through the mail. For a reasonable fee that we agree on that fits your budget, deciding how much you want me to help you with as we go, if we feel our work is compatible, I can take you under my wing however much or little you want. i can teach poetry or experimental fiction or expository writing. i have so many publications in good magazines over the last 30 years i don't even know how i would begin counting them.

Because it is one on one, it can fit your schedule, starting any time rather than going through the red tape, waiting a long time to start with a regular workshop, having to get everything done by deadlines, and paying exorbitant fees. If you go to a writer's workshop in a university, you have to take all the other classes, maybe move to where you are accepted, and acceptance rates are very, very low. If you get an MFA in creative writing, you won't be able to teach writing most likely, as unless you go to Iowa, where I went, it is almost unheard of these days to get a job teaching without a PhD and mass-market successful books. The process takes years, and very little of your time is spent actually getting feedback on your work. You spend a lot of time on other people's work, and the lifestyle of being a student.

If you study online, you have to fit their schedule, their class assignments, pay a lot of money for a specified amount of time, may never see your teacher's face, most likely will not receive much individual attention for a whole collection, and will be one of many students.

If you study at a writer's conference, you generally have to go there and stay in a hotel, have to apply months in advance, pay a huge amount of money, and then, your experience is over quickly.

What I am now offering is hard to believe, it's so good. It is tailored exactly to you in every way, but with my strong guidance. You can pay for short periods at a time, and quit at any time, rather than having to commit to a long period, so if something comes up where you can't continue or don't feel you are getting what you want out of it, you can stop. And you can start again later if you have more work you want to go over. I can teach young people, beginning writers, writers polishing their writing before sending it out to publications, writers who are too sensitive or unique to go to workshops, people who write experimental work, which is not well supported at all in writing classes online or in college or even online workshops. If you are working towards a book, this allows you to have your whole manuscript looked at as a whole. If you are only working on one piece for a special occasion, you can just work with that thing. If you're more interested in having your work edited, having me suggest publications to send it to, or just working on something to read at a wedding, my services are available.
