Douglas (Tatsfield King Siddatha)

Douglas was Tambuku Kennels very first dog. He is the son of the imported and highly successful sire Clay (Globe's Roving Red Regent), owned by Janet Wang (Nomvuyo) and Derek Martin (Tatsfield) and dam Jolie (Tatsfield Red Antigone). Although he was never used for breeding purposes he was made up as a show champion and proved to be a long-lived and outstanding companion. It was he who began my education about what is a Ridgeback and who introduced me into the world of show dogs. It was also Douglas who further flamed my interest in Africa's indigenous dogs and of pariahs world-wide.
Douglas accompanied Frans Prins and myself on numerous field trips into the African bushveld and highlying mountains ranges. He had a highly developed protective instinct, was tremendously bold and with strong hunting drive. He was extremely intelligent and had a wonderful sense of humour.

He did not appreciate however, accompanying me to haunted houses while interviewing people when writing my ghost books. If there was something unusual about the house Douglas would immediately pick it up. He was highly sensitive and intuitive.
Tambuku Yesaba Bobese
Tambuku Yesaba Bobese is essentially bred from old South African and Rhodesian lines, namely Mushana, Pronkberg, Glenaholm and Shangara. His sire is Shangara Sabhuku and his dam Roodedraai Luapula Puku. Bobese is a strongly and compactly built dog. He has excellent sideways movement with strong drive from behind. He has a strong protective instinct and has prooved to be a wonderful pet.
Bobese consistantly produces pups of very high quality and often produces dogs that are quite tall and strongly built while his bitches tend to be quite feminine but with good bone and by no means insubstantial. But perhaps Bobese's strongest point which he passes onto his puppies are handsome and strong heads.
Humphrey (Tambuku Choclat Soldier)

Humphrey (Tambuku Choclat Soldier) is the son of Tambuku Yesaba Bobese and Roodedraai Vumba , bred by Yvonne du Preez.
He was a tall, muscular dog with ample bone and a strong old-fashioned head. He was exceptionally athletic, with the agility of a large cat. It was nothing for him to climb up a vertical rock face using his claws as anchors, and the tremendous strength in his forelimbs to pull himself up cliff faces.
He had a superb ridge which he had inherited from his grandfather Shangara Sabhuku, and he from Mushana Benji, and which one suspects came through from the Rhodesian line as it is often seen in dogs hailing from old Rhodesian breeding.
For his size and all his strength Humphrey was a softy, a true gentleman with the ladies always who never failed to take advantage of his good nature, and he was perfect and affectionate pet. Like
