*Prologue*
Talise was laughing and joking with her friends. They were on a day out with their school. That was when someone shouted to one of her friends. Talise had no idea who it was but when they called her a bitch she span round, her eyes glowing and flames in her hands. Next thing Talise knew, a bush to the side of them bust into flames. She was flung back onto the ground, her sunglasses flew off and landed twenty feet behind her. She stared at the flames bewildered. Then she heard the gun shot. She felt something puncture her skin and she fell back. Meanwhile the crowds swarmed around her limp body trying to get out of the park.

Cursed Child
*chapter one*
*the beginning of pain*
It was a dark, cloudy night. The moon was hidden behind a black mist that covered the sky like a swarm of locusts. Talise and her best friend, Willow, were wandering round the abandoned dorm. It was pitch black; the only light came from the two torches each girl held, that illuminated the rotten, wooden panelling that lined the inside of the dorm. The doors had moss growing on them and some even had half or even no door. The girls kept looking, not trying to feel the silence that was trying to squeeze the sound out of their lips. Talise had pure white hair that hung loosely just above the small of her back, and stood out in the velvet darkness that engulfed them, and wore a purple top with blue and purple sleeves. She wore baggy black jeans that were ripped on one knee. Willow wore black skinny jeans and a black long sleeved, v-neck top melting into the darkness easily with only her pallid face visible. Her brown hair hung loosely round her waist with one plait. Both girls had black converse trainers on.
It was around midnight and they were doing it for a dare. The boys who had set the dare were waiting outside. The old clock chimed dustily in the hall signalling midnight. Whilst they walked round the dusty, top floor of the dorm, a door slammed. They turned slowly, eyes wide with fear, and saw a dark figure behind them. They stood watching as it glided silently down the corridor towards them. It stopped a way in front of them. The figure was a young boy, just a little bit older then the two girls, with spiked up, black and gold hair. His eyes were hidden by the navy hoodie that he wore. But his smile looked friendly enough.
‘Who are you?’ Talise asked. The boy said nothing. Willow looked at Talise and asked, ‘are you a vampire?’ the boy nodded. The girls looked at each other again when suddenly…
‘VAMPIRE!!!!!’ Talise yelled happily jumping onto the vampire.
‘Get off me human,’ the vampire boy hissed. Willow had already ran because she knew what Talise was doing. Talise just kept saying, ‘Please turn me.
Please turn me. I’ll do anything.’ The vampire got out of Talise’s grip and growled, ‘You will be taken to my master to be dealt with.’ He tied her hands together so tightly that the ropes cut into her wrists and placed a blindfold on her. Soon the blindfold was taken off and she was forced down on her knees. That was when she realised that it wasn’t fun to be a vampire.
‘So. You want to become a vampire. No one’s ever wanted to become one by choice. You are special. What’s your name?’ Talise’s face was forced up from her chin. She stuttered a name, ‘T-Talise.’ The lead vampire had pure white hair and glowing blue eyes. He smiled and said, ‘welcome to the clan Talise,’ and bit her on the neck, drinking deeply. He then cut his wrist and forced her to drink. He made her drink until his wrist healed. He knew that it would make her powerful. More so then him but he would break her. Before she came to, he put a seal on her. A symbol appeared on her stomach. It stopped her from using her full power. Then she jerked up. In no pain, not tired, nothing to indicate that she had been alive.
‘You said that you would do anything when you became a vampire. Now it’s time to fulfil your promise. You will be an assassin for the clan. You will first be trained to be ruthless. And you can’t escape from here.’
*chapter two*
*Training*
About a month later, Talise was sent out with one of the more senior vampires, Damion, and was sent out on her first assassin mission. The target was a young boy named Jak. He was a boy genius and the strategy was to bypass all his security. This mission was to test the skill that Talise had been taught over the month. Damion was just there to observe and intervene only if Talise had trouble. She didn’t and got straight to Jak. The mission was not to kill him but to threaten him that if he did one more thing against the vampire race, a more skilled assassin would be sent in to get him. He understood.
It had been a year since Talise had been turned. She was now on solo assassin missions that were people to be killed. She’d completed 60 successful missions and 10 warning missions. This was her 71st mission and the target was fighting back. He shot her in the leg and arm with a silver bullet gun. Talise didn’t feel the pain until 5 minutes later. She swore violently and teleported behind the target. She sunk her fangs deep into the back of his neck. She closed her eyes as she did and thought back to what Damion had told her, “Leave no trace of yourself. No bite marks. The target must always look like they died of a natural cause.” She had broken the first rule of assassination. Quickly she healed the marks from her fangs and dropped the target. She looked around and realised that she was near Willow’s house. She teleported to outside her house and picked up a stone. She threw it and heard it connect with the window. Then the pain took over causing her to fall to the floor. The targets blood trickled down from the side of her mouth. The door opened and out came Willow.
‘T…Tali? Is that you?’ she asked. Talise looked at her and smiled slightly. Then the pain in her leg was too much and she collapsed.
*chapter three*
*Pain of an old friend*
Willow sat in her room working on a project started a week ago. It was a year ago that Talise had disappeared. Suddenly a stone flew against her window.
‘Huh?’ she looked out of her window and saw a figure outside. She ran downstairs and opened the door. There was a girl. About a year younger then her. She had pure white hair that hung loosely just above the small of her back. A grey top with purple sleeves and black, baggy and ripped jeans. On her neck, a black velvet choker was drawn tight with a large, black onyx stone resting gently on her chest. Willow looked at her.
‘T…Tali? Is that you?’ she asked. Talise looked at her, blood trickling down from the corner of her mouth. That was when she collapsed. Willow brought her in and took her up to her room. Before they entered, Talise raised one hand slightly and cast a manna glow on all things that cast reflections. As they entered, two large mirrors showed the room backwards. Willow laid Talise on the bed and tended to her wounds. The next night, Talise woke up completely healed.
‘Will?’ she asked wearily. Slowly she sat up on one arm and looked around. She smiled and thought, “This is Willow’s room alright.” She looked towards the desk where a pale orange glow came. There was a figure asleep on the desk with long brown hair that reached her waist. Talise went over and shook Willow awake.
‘Will. Willow. Wake up. WILLOW!’ Talise yelled. Willow bolted upright saying, ‘I’m up. I’m up.’ She looked blearily at Talise who was grinning ear to ear.
‘Tali!!’ she yelled happily, flinging herself off the chair and into Talise’s stomach. As they fell against the bed, Talise winced from an old wound. Willow noticed her wince and said, ‘what’s wrong Tali?’ she pulled up Talise’s t-shirt and saw a deep cut like an upside down cross. It looked like it had been done recently.
‘What happened to you? And your arm and leg… their ok?’ Willow asked. Talise looked down and asked, ‘what would you say if I told you that I was a vampire?’ Willow looked at her, sensing that she was uncomfortable. She breathed out, looked up and said, ‘I would say that you finally got what you wanted and that you’re happy. Also I hope you haven’t come to kill me,’ she added with a grin. Talise smiled back and said, ‘I’m glad that’s what you’ve said. I have to tell you Will. I am a vampire.’ Willow looked at her and started laughing.
‘Oh Tali don’t crack me up like that. Of course your not a vampire or you wouldn’t have a re-‘ Willow was saying until Talise stood in front of the mirror, her back facing it. There was no reflection behind her. Willow stared, gob-stricken.
‘B-b-but Th-that’s -’ Willow stuttered. Talise was looking at her, waiting to see what she would do. Willow came over and looked in her mouth. She saw the fangs and backed away. As she backed away, Talise fell to her knees and placed a hand on her head. She looked up about five minutes later and said, ‘I have to go.’ She stared at the floor as she told Willow that and started to vanish. Before she had gone completely Willow ran at her grabbing her arm and saying, ‘I’m not letting you leave again Talise!’ When Willow opened her eyes, she saw a dark room that had a red and black style to it. She was startled when she was pulled around and came face to face with Talise. Her red eyes glowed very slightly in the dark.
‘What the hell were you thinking grabbing on to me like that. You saw this mark,’ she pulled her top up so the cross was showing, ‘haven’t you realised that I would of left long ago if I could. Argh.’ Talise turned and punched the marble. To Willow’s surprise, the marble crack under her fist. She sighed and said, ‘I’m sorry Will. It’s just I don’t want you to go through what I did. It isn’t fun. Believe me. Stay here until I get back. Don’t leave what ever you hear.’ Suddenly her clothes changed from the ones she was wearing to a long, black, velvet shirt with long sleeves and black velvet trousers. She left the room mumbling to herself.
Willow was left to explore the room her self. It was a large room with tall windows. Moonlight streamed in them and the thick red curtains were drawn back to let it in. Willow was very tired. She looked at the bed, which loomed high in the room. The duvet was a deep red velvet. The carpet, that she was stood on, was a jet black plush and the walls were the same color. The ceiling was black with a large light in one corner and little lights dotted about the rest of the ceiling. Willow thought it looked a lot like the sky out side. She sat on the bed and stared out the bay windows. The whole grounds were bathed in moonlight. She thought it was beautiful.

‘What the hell were you thinking grabbing on to me like that. You saw this mark,’ she pulled her top up so the cross was showing, ‘haven’t you realised that I would of left long ago if I could. Talise strode out mumbling, ‘Damn it. If he finds out about Willow I’m in deep trouble.’ She rounded a corner and walked straight into Sebastian. She fell back and glowered at him. She couldn’t say anything to him as he was a senior vampire. All she said was, ‘sorry Sebastian I’m in a rush. Master Holden wants me.’ She jumped up and strode past him, never making eye contact. As she rounded another corner, she stopped and let out a sigh.
“Damn. Gotta go or I’ll be punished!” Talise thought suddenly. She ran the length of the corridor and drew up outside the main ballroom. She took a deep breath and knocked.
‘Enter.’ The voice was deep and commanding. Talise pushed the door open and walked into the ballroom. It had large bay windows that the moon shone through, making a faint sapphire blue color upon the floor. The whole room was white. At the far end, a throne stood solitary in the middle of a stage. Upon the throne sat the demon that the deep voice belonged too. Talise strode to the front of the stage and kneeled.
‘Master?’ Talise asked, ‘what is it you would like for me to do?’ Holden, the master, was dressed in his usual pure white robes, his long white hair was tied back in a loose ponytail. He smiled and said, ‘you have no missions tonight Talise. I would like you to bring the human you have brought back to the mansion. How much has she seen of this place?’ Talise stayed kneeled looking at the ground, eyes wide with terror. Trying to keep the fear out of her voice she said, ‘only my room and the grounds from my window my lord.’ Holden rested his chin on his arm and smiled again.
‘Good. Blindfold her and bring her to me.’ Talise nodded and stood up. As she turned to leave Holden said, ‘you will also be punished for bringing the human into the mansion. Understand.’ Talise grit her teeth and said, ‘yes my lord.’ She left teleporting herself to her room. When she reappeared in her room, Willow span round in surprise. She breathed out a sigh of relief when she saw it was Talise.
‘Oh Tali its you. So am I going home?’ she asked. Then she saw the look on Talise’s face, ‘what Tali?’ Talise held out a hand and a strip of black cloth appeared in her hand. She took a step towards Willow and said, ‘I am so sorry for this Willow,’ and placed the blindfold on her. Willow was pulled out of the room by Talise, having to run to keep up. She stumbled a few times and when they stopped once, she heard Talise talking to someone. Then they started the fast pace again. The second time they stopped Willow heard a faint knocking and a deep voice. Then she heard Talise say, ‘stay brave Will.’ She was walked in then Talise stopped her and let go of her hand. Then she was pushed to her knees, not roughly, and told to stay there. Talise went up to Holden and said, ‘I have brought the human my lord.’ Holden smiled and said, ‘remove the blindfold.’ Talise clicked her fingers and the blindfold vanished. Then she stood by the side of Holden’s throne, hands behind her back, head down and tears running down her cheeks.
*chapter 5*
*old wounds opened*
Willow blinked as her eyes became accustomed to the light. She saw a stage in front of her and looked up. She saw a man in pure white with glowing blue eyes. Beside him stood Talise. She wasn’t looking at her but over the other side of the room. Her eyes were glazed over.
‘do you know the penalty for a human to be in this building?’ the man in white asked. Willow shook her head not understanding what was going on. The man continued, ‘I only allow my vampires to bring humans here for food, recreational value or if I’ve asked them to. You were brought here for none for those reasons. Therefore, you have to be punished. Also the vampire responsible will be punished.’ He turned to Talise, ‘you are to turn her.’
‘WHAT!’ Talise yelled, ‘I can’t do that.’ Her voice was full of fear. The master smiled and said, ‘then you are to watch as I do it. You are not allowed to close your eyes or turn away.’ He stood up and walked down th steps in front of Willow. Talise had tears running down her cheeks and had a sorrowful look in her eyes. No matter how hard she tried, she could not look away. The master crouched down, pulled Willow’s chin towards him and brushed the hair away from her neck. Then he bit. He drunk deeply. Willow fell sideways, her eyes open in fear. Holden cut his wrist and forced her head up. He allowed a few drops to trickle into her mouth. Willow jerked up, gasping for breath. Talise dropped to her knees, the power of the commands broken. She punched the floor in despair. A crack appeared underneath her fist. This surprised Talise as the room was built to be able to hold Holden’s power. Holden heard the crack and spun round.
‘what!’ he could see what appeared to be black and red smoke rising form Talise. He swore saying, ‘damn it. The seal’s been broken.’ The smoke stopped coming and the last wisps of it vanished. Then Talise fell forwards, unconscious, onto the stage. Holden cursed and called for Damion.
Damion appeared and said, ‘master?’ Holden strode to his seat and sat down. Then he said, ‘take Talise to her room and care for her but first show Willow to her room. She’ll be next to Talise.’ Damion bowed, picked up Talise and nodded to Willow.
‘Come with me,’ he said and he strode out of the room. Willow had to jog to keep up. Damion started to ask questions like, ‘so your Willow huh? I’ve heard a lot about you.’ Willow asked, ‘how do you know about me?’ and Damion smiled and answered kindly, ‘Talise told me. We’ve been working together for the past year. Ah here we are. This is your room Willow. Just place your hand on the screen in front of you and say your name clearly.’ Willow did what she was told and then she heard a ding.
‘that’s it your rooms been done. It’s suited to your personal likes,’ Damion said happily. Willow said, ‘did that door just ding?’ but Damion had already gone with Talise in his arms. Willow shrugged and went into her room. It was a deep blue with lights like Talise’s on the ceiling. The floor was covered by a pale blue shag carpet and the bed had pale blue covers. The curtains were a indigo blue and open. Willow sat on the bed and sighed.
“is this what you had to go through Talise? Am I just as strong as you now? God this sucks,” Willow thought to herself.
*Chapter 6*
*The seal*
When Holden had turned Willow, the pain of her friend having to go through what she had had forced her down onto her knees. She punched the ground in fury, tears in her eyes. A crack appeared underneath her fist. This surprised Talise as the room was built to be able to hold Holden’s power. She heard Holden curse but didn’t hear any more as unconsciousness came quickly. When she woke, it was night. She jerked up gasping for breath. Had it just been a dream? She asked herself. She looked round and saw Damion asleep in a chair by the bed. She crawled over to him and prodded him. He slid sideways and fell on the floor with a thud. He groaned, opened his eyes and said, ‘Ow. That hurt Tali.’ She looked at him from the bed. She smiled but it didn’t reach her eyes. They looked dark. Not the bright red they had been, but a deep, blood red. They looked like someone who had seen it all. Been through hell and back in a day. In all fairness, Talise had. About a month after she had been turned, Holden had called her into his study. Talise was very rebellious after being turned. Holden had tied her wrists together tightly. He had then cut into her arms four upside down crosses. Then he did the same on her legs. He cut one large upside down cross on her stomach then two on her face, one over each eye. The final touch was a little mark on one cheek. This was the same mark as the seal he had placed on her earlier. She had been kicking and yelling to begin with. Now she was just laying there, totally defeated. He had broken her there and then. He saw it in her eyes. Now her eyes were full of hatred and passion. She was no longer in his power. She knew that she was more powerful then him. It had been proved. The crack on the ballroom floor was her proof.
For the next six months, Talise was made to train each day, exhausting herself and made to push her body to the limit. She was very testy as she was tired. She had snapped more then once at Willow. Then, after a really rough mission, when she was just so tired, Holden called her into the ballroom. He tied her arms together but not tightly. As she hung there, she closed her eyes. Soon she was asleep. While she was asleep, Holden made the seal stronger. Hen he called Damion and ordered him to take her to her room. When Damion had left, he sat on his throne.
“Talise could be the one to take over this place when I go. That shouldn’t be to early so I’ll have plenty of time to train her” he smiled o himself and watched the dawn approach. The curtains automatically started to close. As the light from the window faded, the lights in the ceiling came on.
