Talgarth Christmas Lights Group

Welcome ~ Croeso

Welcome to the website of Talgarth Christmas Lights Group. Here you will find a brief description of the work of the Group, the Christmas lights display in Talgarth as well as the Christmas events held in the town and surrourrounding area each year.

The Christmas lights are owned be Talgarth Town Council, they are repaired, erected and mantained by a dedicated group of volunteers known as Talgarth Christmas Lights Group, or locally as 'the Lights Group'.

Repairing and putting up the town's Christmas lights involves a lot of hard work. The volunteers ensure that the following places are illuminated/decorated:

The Square; High Street; Bell Street; Across River Ennig; Town Hall; Church Hall; St. Gwendoline's Church (Tree of Light)

The group start work on the lights in mid October with testing and repairs taking place. Throughout October and November right up to 'Switch on day' (last Saturday in November) the lights are put up around the town. Then, of course, at the end of January they are all taken down again.

The team also go around Talgarth and the neighbouring villages of Trefeca and Three Cocks with Father Christmas before Christmas Eve to greet the children of the community.

For a town of it's size Talgarth hosts a very impressive lights display, improving each year, recognised as one of the best shows in the area.

Seasons Greetings from Talgarth!

THIS WEBSITE IS NO LONGER MAINTAINED, HOWEVER, THE GROUP CONTINUE TO WORK EVERY YEAR FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY AND THE LIGHT SHOW CONTINUES TO EVOLVE.
