What is Tae Kwon-Do?
- Tae Kwon-Do is a scientifically designed martial art which originated in Korea. It is based upon a number of age-old methods of unarmed combat and self-defence.
- Tae Kwon-Do is established as an Olympic sport.
- The aim of Tae Kwon-Do through training is to condition the mind and body, enabling greater harmony within one's self.
- Practised by over twenty million people in over sixty countries, it is one of the most popular forms of martial arts.
- Regular training sessions are encouraged. As the student progresses, grading assessments are undertaken. This is incorporated in stages from White to Black belt.
- Using aerobic and stretching exercises, Tae Kwon-Do is an excellent means of achieving and maintaining physical fitness and relieving the stress of everyday life. Ability in the Art is not solely determined by a person's strength or flexibility - one's mental approach to the discipline is equally important.
- In addition to the benefits of physical fitness and mental discipline, the study of Tae Kwon-Do can help to develop self confidence and the ability to remain calm in crisis. One will also experience great improvements in stamina, balance, concentration and co-ordination.
