Reserves vs Swillington, away

A poor and sloppy performance which lacked clinical finishing actually ended with a 3-0 win against lower league opposition, Swillington Saints. Tad were expected to bag more than 3 and certainly had enough chances to. Lendhill had an effort saved in the opening minutes. Various half chances came and went before Howgate picked up the ball on the right wing, ran inside and struck a sweet low shot from 20 yards to open the scoring. Swillington struck the post and side nettting as well as Wilson make a brave save at the Swillington forwards feet with his chest. Pitts, Howgate and Suggitt had long range efforts for Tad but to no avail. Tad went in one nil up at half time. Dowling replaced Lendhill and opened up the Swilly defence for Howgate to rush through and lob the keeper. O'Conner and Edwards kept it tight at the back and Daniells replaced Howgate with 10 to play, he had immediate effect, Wright layed the ball back and from 20 yards out Daniells bent a wonderful strike over the keeper curling it into the net. An away tie awaits in the Semi Final against York Premier League side Kartiers. An improvement will be expected as well as need if Tad are to get to the final!

Home Vs Worsborough Bridge

Tadcaster kicked of the Koolsport NCE League campaign at home but unfortunately the day ended in a defeat. Goals from Phil Smith and Ian McLean were cancelled out by two headers from Worsborough. Ian McLean then missed a penalty at 2-2 when Smith was brought down by the Worsborough Keeper. Worsborough scored a winner which was deflected in beyond Ryder by club captain Paul James. To end the day on a sour note, Phil Smith was sent off after a second yellow following a clash with former Garforth stopper, Andy Brooke. Tadcaster did look good at times with Dowling trying to pull the strings from the centre of the park but a number of players will be hoping they can perform at higher quality when they play host to Teversal on Tuesday night.
