Any RP posts that do not follow these rules will be deleted without
any questions or warnings. Ignore them at your own risk!
GRAMMAR, PUNCTUATION & SPELLING:
Full stops (.), Commas (,), question marks (?), exclamation marks (!),
and that ever so useful 'enter' key are all small things that can make
a post so much easier to read. Propper spelling is encouraged. So for
the sake of everyone else, please do attempt to write as properly as
you can.
KEEP TRACK OF POSTS
Actually read other people's posts in a RolePlay. It's just plain annoying
when somebody doesn't pay attention to what others are saying, because
it can disrupt the flow of the story or cause confusion when posts clash
with each other.
MINGLING
In other RPs this is greatly discouraged and is commonly refferd to
as 'spamming'. Mingling of course refers to those little one or two
liner posts that serve no greater purpose than to make one's presence
known in an RP. in the Admiral's Arms, this is actually permitted due
to the fact that long, descriptive posts are not everyone's cup of tea.
The rules of mingling are simple. Watch what you post. Use punctuation
and press the 'enter' key every so often to separate words from actions.
Also, do try to compile sentences that actually make sense.
STARTING AN RP THREAD
You may not start an RP thread until you have::
- 10 posts in other RPs
- A character profile on the 'welcome and introductions' thread
- No problems with your profile
- A user title.
All the above checked? Good. Here's how to start an RP::
All RP threads are to have the following in front of the title (exactly
as it is here): -RP-
If they do not, they will not be treated as RP threads by the management.
Also if you choose to start an RP thread, it must prompt a reply from
other members and it must go along with the storyline of the cult. (see
'Plot Starters') If it doesn't, expect it to be locked and deleted very
quickly.
Do be reasonable with topics. If you don't think that a certain thread
is appropriate, then ask someone from the management for a 2nd opinion.
If we find a problem with a certain post/thread, it will be temporarily
locked until the problem is solved. Don't take it personally, threads
are locked quite often around here. If your thread is very problematic,
one staff member may lock it without consent of others. If you believe
there is nothing wrong with your thread and you have followed all the
rules, a total of 3 (three) staff members must agree on locking the thread.
PLOT STARTER POSTS
Plot starters are those long descriptive posts that are used to control
and move the flow of the thread's storyline along. You may call them the
'game master' posts. If you are not confident in your writing skills,
do not make any these as they must be written well enough to be clearly
understood. They must also have a minimum length of 10-15 lines and must
prompt a reply or an action from other RPers. Plot starters may be labeled
in the subject with the word 'plot'.
If someone posts one of these, read it carefully and play along with it!
Don't end it or destroy it for others by wrapping up the story in one
short post where you get to save the day and everyone's happy as everyone
will not be happy. The people who have worked hard at getting the plot
to work will be very annoyed indeed.
STORYLINE IN A THREAD
Just because you start a thread doesn't mean you get to control every
little thing that happens in there. Good RP-ing and clever Plot Starters
do that. If you wish to have say of what goes on in a thread; come up
with an idea for it and take the idea further in a post that would move
the topic along your way. Feel free to fight for your RP. Just do it in
a civilized, proper way.
NO GODMODING!
You have only one character in a role play and that character is your
own. Do NOT attempt to dictate the thoughts or actions of another person's
character without their prior permission. If you do happen acquire that
person's permission, this should be stated OOC comment at the top of the
post.
NON PLAYABLE CHARACTERS:
Godmoding may not be permitted when other people's characters are in question,
but when it comes to NPCs, you may god mode to your little hearts content.
Characters that are permitted as NPCs:
- Ghosts and spirits (controlled by witches of the Mayfair clan)
- Zombies (controlled by animators)
- Extra characters that make the storyline work (rather self explainatory)
- Animals
CHARACTER ABILITIES:
This has been said before, and will be said again::: The fire gift is NOT
PERMITTED!!! No character on this RP is old or powerful enough to have this
ability... minimum age to use it is 2000!!! None of our bloodlines are even
close to that maximum age. The only abilities that you may use are those
that are on the listed for your bloodline.
LOCKED
THREADS
Let's go over this again. Staff lock threads often. Very often. Don't
take it personally. There will be a reason posted by the staff member before
locking the thread.
If your thread was being troublesome for the cult members and was offending
people, a staff member reserves the right to lock and after 24 hours delete
the thread without consent from other staff.
In all other non extreme cases, a staff member needs to get consent of one
(1) staff member of root or higher status or two (2) staff members of admin
and higher status in order to lock a thread. This is to eliminate confusion
and prevent problems that may arise due to lack of communication between
the staff.
Threads that have been inactive for long periods of time may also be locked
and deleted.
Just keep in mind that not all locked threads get deleted though. Some continue
on to be happy little RPs and discussions.
DELETED
POSTS:
Individual posts in the middle of a successful thread that don't follow
the rules are automatically deleted by staff. No warning. Just a deletion.
