What is Incarnational Mission?
The latest thoughts on incarnational mission come from the book Good News and Good Works by Ron Sider. I am curently reading this gem, which challenges us to a holistic idea of the gospel - sharing the good news, being full of the Holy Spirit, and getting involved in social justice for the poor.
"Jesus was not a lone ranger. He did not travel around the countryside declaring God's forgiveness to isolated hermits. Jesus formed a new society. He gathered a new community of forgiven disciples, who challenged evil and proclaimed the gospel."
So, I take incarnational mission to be a communal way of life in the flowing life of the city - in the midst of sub-cultures and people groups. Let us share the same mission!
