Quick Facts About Gpigs

Here are some quick facts about gpigs that you might like to know:

The scientific name for guinea pigs is Cavia Aperea.

Gpigs live from about 5-12 years! They can live less though if you don't take good care of them.

Gpigs are vegetarians and typically do not like tropical foods.

They need a fresh supply of Timothy Hay and pellets. Alfalfa hay is to be used only as a treat.

Males will fight if housed together (sometimes to the death), so it would be wiser to get two females to house together. Try to get them when they are five months or older, then you will be able to tell for sure the sex of the gpig.

Never house a male and female together unless you have room for babies! If a male and a female mate, the female instantaneously becomes pregnant.

Gpigs must be played with at least once a day or they will die from depression.

Gpigs need lots of TLC (Tender Love and Care).
