Donations urgently needed asap for our Santa Hampers

Would you like to help us to say 'Thank You' to our wonderful foster carers and volunteers, and to help us to be able to give our rescued pets a Christmas surprise? Last year we were the lucky recipients of lots of lovely pet goodies from the Young Lawyers who collected goodies form lots of individuals and businesses on our behalf. We packaged these up into a Santa Hamper for each of our foster carers and their rescued pets, and distributed any excess we had to other underprivileged pets. The Santa hampers were a big hit, so we would love to be able to do this again this year as a small gesture to our foster carers and volunteers who work so enormously hard throughout the year, looking after our rescued pets.

Could you help with any of the following items?
  • 50 recycled shopping bags
  • Cash to buy Christmas goodies for our rescued pets, foster carers and volunteers
  • Small gifts suitable as a thank you gift for our foster carers/volunteers. Surprise us!
  • Good quality Cat/kitten/dog food and treats – tinned or dry
  • Rabbit food
  • Toys for cats/dogs/kittens
  • Grooming mitts eg 'Zoom Grooms' for cats
  • Shampoo for cats/kittens/dogs
  • Cat/Kitten collars ie with safety elastic inserts
  • Breeder’s Choice litter
  • Dog collars/leads – leather or fabric
  • Flea/wormer treatments for cats/dogs/kittens
  • Cat/kitten scratching stands
  • Stainless steel water bowls
  • Paper plates for feeding sick cats
  • Bleach and rubber gloves
  • Sard’s Oxy Action cleaning spray
  • Canestan rinse (found in washing aisle of supermarkets)
  • Antiseptic hand wash

Good places to shop for these items – Target, discount stores, Reject Shop, supermarkets
Collecting items at your workplace is be a good way to make up a larger collection of items.

If you can help out with any of the above, please email malber@optusnet.com.au with details or phone 0403 254 960 for more information.
We would like to start putting these Santa Hampers together asap with the view to possibly distributing at our Doggie Walk on Sun 22 Nov if ready.

Thank you, in anticipation of your support.

CAT OF THE WEEK

Jasper Jnr, Jade Jnr born approx 22/11/08

Jasper Jnr (m)         Jade Jnr(f)

Jasper Jnr – Male – Spotted Tabby and white shorthair coat. Jasper is a big wuss and a bit shy at first, but once he gets to know you he is very smoochy. He has a lovely purr.
Jade Jnr – Female – White with grey cap and two large grey spots on her back. She has a lovely long tabby tail. Jade is the elegant lady. She loves a game, her speciality is hide and seek!

Sept'09- an update from their foster carer
Jade and Jasper will need to be adopted together as they are a brother and sister team who came to me very shaken and very scared.  Jade is a beautiful white little girl who loves a pat and a sit on the top of the cat tree! Jasper is just a darling little man who although more shy than Jade is starting to enjoy play time and hanging out with my other two cats. Jade and Jasper would best be rehomed somewhere where there are no dogs or small children. They need a quiet home as they both startle at loud noises and they also need to be approached quietly and softly so they can gain trust. They are indoor cats, and also like to sleep somewhere cosy near their owner. They are just the most gorgeous two little darlings and have both such wonderful little personalities. They get along with other well tempered cats!
Jasper Jnr, and Jade Jnr are in Sutherland

DOG OF THE WEEK

RILEY (m) Tibetan Spaniel / Corgi cross
Riley DOB Dec 05.  Tibetan Spaniel / Corgi cross.  Desexed and vaccinated. House trained, but doggie door useful for early mornings.

Hi, I’m Riley and I’m looking for a family of my own to love and play with me and make me No 1 (pet!) in their lives!  I am very energetic and adventurous and love getting out and about.  My favourite things are going for walks, and chasing any toy you throw for me  If you have experience with dogs (and are looking for a special dog like me to be a REAL member of the family – a ‘furry kid’ I think you call it! - to play and snuggle up with you and your human children, then I would really LOVE to come meet you all!
PS:  I live with my foster mum’s two dogs and two cats at the moment but want to be the only dog with all the love and attention going just to me in my forever home – well okay, I could probably learn to  tolerate a cat that doesn’t give me too much competition!

Old Dogs
What happens to old dogs unclaimed in a pound?
They have owners - but what if they're not found?

Who will care about a dog with a poor, grey old face
sitting patiently waiting in this cold, dark place?

Loved once but now frightened, alone and in pain.
Sad eyes searching for someone they will never see again

Because they are older does it mean we will not give
them another chance - please help, they just want to live.
