BIKA stays at Indian Neck Yacht Club for some weeks, while we visit familiy and friends.

March 8th, 2007: We are still in Portobelo, preparing our trip towards Cuba. Our stormpillow idea was printed in the March issue of Practical Boatowner, and Peter Poland included us in a long Contessa 26 article he wrote for the March/April issue of Sailing Today (UK).
February 12th, 2007: After 3-4 weeks in Kuna Yala (San Blas) are we now in Portobelo, just south of Colon/the Panama Canal. We are awaiting our new passports here, and preparing for sailing to Cuba and later New York/the Great Lakes/Canada. We have decided to drop spending the next hurricane season in Guatemala, and instead head for Georgian Bay/Lake Huron, where we hope to find a cabin for the winter (and put BIKA on land). We will try to be in New York by June this year.
January 25th, 2007: Bika will soon leave San Blas, heading for Panama.
January 8th, 2007: We are sailing to the San Blas in Panama today, for at least some weeks. There are no phones nor internet there, instead there are kuna indians and traditional indian life. We are looking forward to this!

June 5th, 2006: Our stay in Trinidad lasted much longer than planned. We sailed to Los Testigos off Venezuela the 30th of May, and stayed there a few days. Today we reached Bonaire, one of the ABC-islands.
May 10th, 2006: Chaguaramas in Trinidad is full of yachts being fixed up, or stored while the owners go home for a while. We are fed up with boat maintenance and hope to get away from here soon...

There are a few new photos on the websalbum. We are sorry for taking so long to write the travelouges. The Norwegian travelouges have plenty of photos, - for those who do not want to wait, just go to the Norwegian site and click on "Reisebrev".
March 11th, 2006: Left Brava the Feb 21th at 1500 hrs, and arrived in Scarborough on Tobago today, March 11th at 0030 hrs. Quick passage!
February 20th, 2006: After almost three weeks on the lovely island of Brava we are ready to cross the Atlantic, for Tobago. We are sailing tomorrow.
January 29th, 2006: We had it all planned for Africa. Maps and guides, visas, vaccines and malaria tablets. The right courtesy flags. Sigarettes for harbour masters and fish hooks for trading with fishermen. Kiddie clothes, pencils and scrap books. Contact with a french sailing doctor in Casamance, whom we would like to help out in one way or the other. Great Expectations. The only thing we had not been able to arrange, was the weather. The wind turned against us. After two days of heavy weather sailing enroute to Banjul, we turned the bow and went downwind instead, back to the Cape Verde Islands, to Praia. We should have left for Banjul from the Canaries. Instead of having our East African Adventure, we will now cross the Atlantic for Tobago.
January 19th, 2006: BIKA have been weather-bound on the island Boa Vista for one week. They hope to be able to continue, bond for Banjul, Gambia within a few days. All well onboard.

November 30th, 05: During the tropical storm Delta, 80 knots of wind was registrated in marina Rubicon. A 80 ton boat got loose, and threathed to smash boat BIKA and other boats. We think we were very lucky to escape without any damages. After a short stop in Las Palmas we´re off for the Cape Verde Islands.
November 26th, 05: New travelouge finally posted, about crossing Biscay. A few new photos in the webs album as well. We are leaving Arrecife in Lanzarote for a mail pick up in Playa Blanca. Shortly after we plan to set sail for the Cape Verde islands.

October 29th, 05: In two days good winds are predicted; and we will sail to Isla Graciosa near Lanzarote. Morocco has been a true adventure!
October 19th, 05: We used five days between Portugal and Safi in Morocco. We are tied up to a fishing boat together with a German cruiser, and have entered a world different from all we have ever known. After five lonely days at sea, all the smells, all the people and noise is very exhausting, we need to take in Africa bit by bit. Still it is grand being here, we are amazed.
October 11th, 05: After Cascais, Sagres, Baleeira, Lagos and Alvor, we are now in Portimão, waiting for northerly winds. Morocco next.
September 19th, 05: First English travelouge finally posted. We may leave Porto for Cascais tonight.
September 13th, 05: Arrived at Porto, a brilliant city!
September 3rd, 05: Staying at Bayona, just north of the Portuguise border. In A Coruña we got a new crewmember; Luna. She´s the finest kitten of all seas. Leaving for Leixoes in Portugal in a few days.

July 28th, 05: We left the Isles of Scilly July 20th, bound for Galicia. We had 6 days in the Bay of Biscay filled with flat calms, dolphins, force 7 from south west, seasickness, stormsail, heave to during the nights, and then finally: the lovely smell of land. We made Ribadeo in Galicia, Northern Spain, our first port of call (July 26th).
July 11th, 05: Bika arrived Scilly and enjoying the summer. They are planning to start sailing for Galicia, Spain next week.
July 5th, 05: We're still at Dale Sailing. New photos posted at the websalbum (click previous to view the new ones).
June 29th, 05: After a week in Holyhead waiting for the southerlies and the fog to go, we had another week in the pretty village of PorthDinllaen at the Llyn Peninsular in Wales. Currently we're at Dale Sailing in Neyland, Pembrokeshire, fixing things (pushpit, solar panels, waiting for new sails to arrive).
June 16th, 05: We've been waiting for the weather in Holyhead some days, but plan to sail on tonight. A few new photos posted at the websalbum. To view the newest ones, click on PREVIOUS. Interior photos posted at the "Boat and Crew" site.
June 11th, 05 Good winds blew us directly from Arran to Holyhead, and we'll go further south this evening. New websalbum posted, see link further up.
31th of May, 05 Presently mooring up in Fort William, moving south later this evening when the tides turn. BIKA is out of the Caledonian Canal after fine, but wet, days among pretty scenery and nice people. We're thinking about posting a travelouge about the North Sea soon, but has been rather busy/lazy cruising this far.
26.MAY 05 We're staying at the nice Caley Marina, refitting our rigging. Nice days. Plan to start the Caledonian Canal friday this week.
20.MAY 05 BIKA arrived Scotland, Lossiemouth in the evening may 20. This place is approximately 65 kilometres east of Inverness. Hopefully there will be a report from the crew soon.
17.MAY 05 Bika is leaving Rott and Norway may 17. (Norway’s national day) and is planning to arrive Inverness, Scotland after 3-7 days.
15.MAI 05 BIKA leaves Tananger on the afternoon may 15. as planned
Due to bad weather forecast they decided to wait at the island Rott outside Tananger/Stavanger until may 17.

9. MAI 05 Busy days! We had the boat on land to remove the biodiversity that had gathered underneath. We also removed the propeller, plugged a few holes and made the hull shiny again. Still a few things needs to be done - bracket for the outboard, a pushpit, testing of the new windvane, checking of sails, anchor and chain and a hundred other details. All the same we plan to go on the coming Sunday, May 15th. The weather forecast lookes good, we'll probably go straight for the North Sea.
BIKA on dry land.
APRIL 05 BIKA is still in Tananger harbour (near Stavanger) in southern Norway. We have tossed out the inboard engine, replacing it with a small outboard. This opens up lots of storing space, and will hopefully give us less mechanical headache and expences than the old inboard. Our new windvane (Windpilot Pacific Light) just arrived from Germany, so we won't have to handsteer around the world. The ever increasing to-do-list is sometimes giving us sleepless nights, but we still think we'll leave May 15th.
