In deciding between various ideas for my personal project I chose to make a website promoting awareness and motivation among somali youth all over the world because it was the choice I felt most strongly about. Being raised very patriotic , my country and people has always been very important in my life. In my opinion, my country is not a side dish in the meal of life, but rather the plate that holds all dishes. Being somalian is not a part of life to me, but a way of life. When contemplating the high level of enthusiasm and motivation needed for this assignment, peace topic seemed fitting. I chose to tackle the topic of ignorance because I believe that every problem has a solution and problem can be solved without knowledge. after giving thought i decided to work on this topic of IGNORANCE. it is fruitless if we cannot learn to coexist harmoniously with each other. I believe that if everyone is uninformed, it is impossible for communities of different clans and life styles to flourish and work as a whole unit. Minute differences are focused on, but people fail to see that at the most basic level, the goals of this project is to collect youth of all clans and intraclan all over the world work as a unit inform our people the what we are missing and give back to our demolished land. In my belief, unity is the only way to fight ignorance. My goal is to is to get together with my brothers and sisters of all clans join hands and show our communities if their children can join hands and work together why not them?
I chose to create an informative website as a medium for this project because I believe a website can reach the most people, as opposed to a flyer or brochure which would receive a minimal amount. Creating websites is also a hobby of mine which I felt I could integrate into my project effectively. Once I chose the medium for the project, I began researching different organisation but i could not find people realy adressing my concerned in specific way. I used an cornucopia of written sources like magazines and websites. In addition, I contacted different organisations . After researching each subject about somalia, I compiled my research and formulated brief fact sheets on separated pages of the website. I believe that providing a brief overview of situataion in our country you can check the news page. It’s rather unfortunate to say but very little good news is being written about our country. This is just beggining of this project and the website is under construction.
