Connection to Output Ports

The connection to the SY85  is made on the environment page called SY85. In the SY85 environment page at the top left corner is an instrument object named (SY85 output) connect the output port connection on this object only. All other parameters on this instrument object are already set correctly.

No other Port, or Com Port, connections need to be made to any other environment object !

(I had to use instrument an object as output ports in order that Gold and Platinum people can use this environment.)

Everything else is straight from the Logic manual apart from the SY85 pre  General Midi sounds. It all works the same as GM, it generates SY85 Program and Bank changes and a lot of midi.

Utility Settings & Studio Set-up Folder

Before you play this file set the Multi Play Song Number to 10 or a number that you do not use normally because this file over writes everything !

Utility settings have to be set like in the Utility table or the file will not work at all.

Utility Setup

1 System

NtShft = 0

Tune = 0

CtlRst = Off

2 Controller

ModWhl. = 001

Foot Cont = 004

---

3 Midi

Rch = omni

PgmCh = direct

DevNo = all

When you play this file from the beginning the first thing that happens is all the controllers in the Studio Set-up Folder are sent to the instrument. This transposes the note shift parameters and prepares the instrument for the next set of controllers from the song folder, the song sequence parameters and all the effect settings. Then if your output is set correctly and you have your audio outputs set correctly when you press play you will hear "Jump".

Because the SY85 is not a general midi instrument it can not play GM format files. So I started to develop a GM to SY85 program bank map in this environment. That gave me the inspiration to develop my DB50XG bank map instead. So some GM files work in this environment all the SY85 sound bank work correctly. This was an experimental environment.
