Laser Alignment Technology

For 2006, Phil at SWTD has investigated the use of a diode laser to check/align the rings on a rod previously spaced-out utilising the already existing Rod Space © computer program. Where in the past some “experts” have scoffed at claims by me that I could fire a 0.22 calibre bullet through a properly aligned set of rod rings, we can now prove it ABSOLUTELY by aligning the laser beam to pass through the rod rings. This must mean less drag when casting. Remember, every little helps!

          So, what does this mean for you, the customer? Ask yourself this. As an angler, do you want to win? Do you want to catch more and better fish? And how does this help?

•    Most of todays 4-6oz. or 4-8oz. 12-13foot  beach/surf rods are unnecessarily overweight

•         In a lot of cases with extra wraps of carbon or glass cloth to support the old-fashioned overweight rod rings that are continually recommended by the dinosaurs of the angling world   

•  In many cases, the extra weight over a set of modern lightweight Zircon/Silicon carbide/Alconite often exceeds 1.5 – 2oz.

•  If the blank is a 4-6oz., and you are trying to cast a 5oz.leadplus bait, you MAY actually be trying to cast 7oz and bait.

•  This is why a lot of these rods feel “sloppy”, and need a massive input of power from the angler to get a good performance out of the rod.

          Stripping and rebuilding with lightweight rings using computer aided design and laser technology can mean the difference between being one of the crowd on the floor, applauding the champion.

Or being the angler up on the podium holding the trophy aloft, and pocketing a nice fat cheque.
