Phil and Jo Hyde are both Licensed Angling Coaches, Phil in Sea and Game angling, Jo in Sea angling. They are the N.F.S.A's leading instructors, and have a hand in Tutoring and Mentoring prospective new coaches. They are  members of the National Federation of Sea Anglers, the Salmon & Trout Association, and the Professional Anglers Association. They are  full members of SportsCoach U.K., and hold http://www.fishcoach.org Sport England licenses to coach.

The License is a guarantee that the holder is:

• Qualified by the Governing Body(s) of the Sport to the level indicated on the license (level 2 minimum).
• Has attended a good practice in child protection course
• Has been checked (enhanced check) by the Criminal Records Bureau
• Holds a valid First-Aid certificate
• Holds public liability and personal accident insurance for coaching & instructing
• Has taken part in continuous professional development to enhance coaching skills

Phil & Jo have attended "Coaching Disabled Performers in Sport" workshops run by SportsCoach U.K., and attend and contribute to ActiveDevon Sports Partnership annual conference, www.activedevon.org .

From the 1st January 2007, coaching is being put up as a profession, and it will be illegal for anyone not qualified to describe themselves as a coach.

Jo and Phil have submitted their portfolios and have been independently assessed for the new 1st4sport qualifications, Level 3 "Certificate in Tutoring in Sport" and "Assessment Processes in Sport", to enable them to deliver the current level 2 Certificate in Coaching Angling, and the new United Kingdom coaching Certificate levels 1,2 and 3 when they come on line and have both passed and have also been trained as Internal Verifiers for the qualifications.

Phil specialises in Surfcasting techniques, and his "Hi Inertia" methods, approved by COPE, the workplace risk assessors, are in use internationally, with anglers in the USA, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hawaii, Singapore and many other places including the U.K. benefiting from Phils Tutoring skills. He also teaches flycasting for sea and game anglers, and with Jo runs Angling club demonstrations for sea anglers on request. Fees are by arrangement, there is a free casting class from November-March, Goodrington South sands, Paignton Saturdays from 2pm-4.30 or dusk, where you take your chance on how many turn up.
