EVENT REPORTS FROM TOM AYLING, BKASc.

Stampede Wrestling Historian and Correspondent

When Stampede Wrestling made its long-awaited return on Good Friday 2nd April 1999, the Victoria Pavillion -- its centre of home base operations for so many years in days gone by -- once again became home for its regular Calgary events. In November of that year, Stampede relocated to the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION in the Calgary suburb of Ogden, and put on regular events for its devoted followers. I joined Stampede in an official capacity on its Friday 12th October 2001 event, and as event correspondent for its next event on Friday 2nd November. Links to all of the Ogden Legion event summaries I provided for Stampede Wrestling's official website can be found on the blue sidebar at the left-hand side of your screen.

The event summaries that I procur for Stampede Wrestling's worldwide online audience are solely for the enjoyment and entertainment of the fans of Stampede Wrestling. These reports were never intended to function as so-called "objective critiques" or "smart-mark reviews" and should not be interpreted as such. Copies of these event summaries may not appear anywhere other than on www.tomayling.cjb.net and Stampede Wrestling's Official Website, in whole or in part, unless credit (preferably in the form of a hyperlink) to at least one of these two is provided.

On Friday 16th May 2003, Stampede staged its first live event at the BOWNESS SPORTSPLEX, to which the promotion subsequently moved its regular Calgary events. For a while, however, Stampede continued to run events at the Legion on opposite Fridays from the Bowness shows. Many people were happy that, between the Ogden Legion and the Bowness Sportsplex, Stampede Wrestling was finally running on a weekly basis in Calgary once again.

Unfortunately, that situation did not continue past the fall. Stampede Wrestling's last event at the Ogden Legion to date was on Friday 3rd October 2003. The good news is that the promotion's regular Calgary events continue to run every two weeks exclusively at the Bowness Sportsplex.
