Ok. First off, let me clue you in on something. I am a huge fan of the Man of Steel. Have been ever since I was a kid. It's what got me into doing comic art in the first place. When I first found out about the existence of fan films, and that you could make a film using pre established characters, I have been wanting to make a Superman short. Just couldn't think of a hook. I'm a big believer in trying to do something original. If you're just going to retell the same story someone else has told, what's the point?

I'm also a big Horror fan. I love the characters I refer to as the Boogeymen - Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, Leatherface. The idea for one of these guys up against Superman had been rattling around in my head for a while, but I honestly could never find the hook. There had to be a reason.

Finally, while driving to work just recently, it all came together. If Freddy could get inside the Man of Steel's head, and somehow siphon off Superman's power, it would make him even stronger - maybe even strong enough to cross over. And maybe, if he retained those abilities on this side, there would be no stopping him.

At the moment, I'm finalising the script. I have the suit for Superman, although it needs a few adjustments, most of freddy's outfit is done except I need to find someone to both play Freddy and someone to recreate the makeup. I also have a HDV camera on Lay-by, so I think I might wait until I pick that up before we start shooting this one. I'm really excited to get this one up and running, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

The cool thing about pushing projects back is it gives you a chance to think about them more. So goes this one.

Update 26/6/7/07

I have completely rethought the premise for this, and it now wors a lot easier and, at least in my mind, better. It's gonna be shorter and simpler than the original idea, but quite frankly that is just gonna make my life easier. It also allows me to play Superman and get away with it. I've written the script and everything is just waiting for GBOZ to slow down a bit before we shoot.

Update 16/7/06

Below are some photo's of the Superman costume that will be used in the film. The photos are from a birthday party when I first got the suit, so they are before we started making some revisions to the suit. I have a new belt made, the legs are going to be taken in, and I'm making a new chest symbol. I'm also considering getting the cape remade, cause there were a few things that annoyed me about it. I also have my Freddy. A mate of mine, Tony Newton, who is helping out and co-starring in Ghostbusters Oz has a very Freddy like look about him, and he's agreed to put on the claw. Anyone who has seen SUPERMAN RETURNS would already know what Tony looks like. In the scene towards the end where Supes is wheeled into the hospital, tony is the doctor behind the glass watching them go.

This film has been put on a hiatus while we work on Ghostbusters Oz. I'll let you know more when I know myself.
