1881 Census shows Sarah was a widow living with Stephen and Charlotte Stringer. Charles Stringer is now parish clerk. Brother John Steer and his family on one side.

1891 census: Residing Alms Houses, North Road. One of four widows in the alms houses.

1861 census: 11 Brunswick Place, Hove. Occupation: cook at ladies school, run by Eliza Weaton. A good number of the pupils 12-17 came from India or West Indies.

MI Ė Lancing 0440 In memory of mary Ann Winton who died October 28th 1862 aged 29 years also of William Winton father of the above who died March 20th 1840 aged 55 years Life is uncertain death is sure sin is the world and Christ the cure (for William the age has been wrongly transcribed.
