Lodging with them were the Waller family, husband, a forge labourer from Co Mayo, wife Mary 22 and daughter Margaret 8 months. Occupation: miner 1881 census: Living 51 Penkridge St, Walsall. Occupation: miner. Joseph Walker residing 4 Penkridge Street. Occupation: stone miner 1892: Ellen Smith died of bronchitis, widow of William Smith a furnace labourer, notified 28/11/1892 death notified by her daughter Ellen Harrison who made her mark, present at death, she lived 22 Hall Street 1891 census: Widow Ellen living 10 Penkridge Street. Joseph Walker residing 4 Penkridge Street. Occupation: stone miner. 1901 census: Ellen who was shopkeeper (grocers) at 24 Hall Street.. With them was her son George 31, a silver chaser and boarder Kate Simpson aged 26 a fruit seller in a shop. Joseph’s occupation miner 1894: Residence of both at time given as High Street. Joseph’s occupation Labourer and father given as Joseph Walker, miner. They both gave their mark. Witnesses were William and Fanny Bundy who I presume were the parents of Joseph’s son-in-law William Bundy. 1911 census: Residing 14 Hall Street. Occupation miner (loader). Census return shows the house to have four rooms. Lodger with them Elizabeth Howle 76 pensioner born West Bromwich. Son George Harrison also with them, worker in iron works. Ellen’s place of birth given as unknown town, Staffs. 1921, 1923, 1922 electoral registers : Joseph and Ellen Walker living at 14 Hall Street with George Harrison and David Slimm
