Emma Rotneburg my nusband's gt=gt-aunt is a real mystery. Can anyone help? Pleas contact me Susan Martin on martis1@hotmail.co.uk EMMA ROTHENBURG Born: abt 1839 Stepney Father: John Rothenburg Mother: Ann Warr Died: Possibly London C Dec q 1877 (1C 15) but recorded as Hase Married: 25/11/1873 St George East Spouse; Henry Adolphus Haase Born: Parents: Henry Christian Haase Children: possibly baby Hase died London C 1876 O years 1839: Birth does not seem to have been registered 1851 census: Residing with parents. Occupation: clay pipe maker 1873: On marriage Henry’s occupation given as mariner, and his father’s master carpenter. Emma’s father given as John Rothenburg tobacco pipe manufacturer. He signed she made her mark. Both recorded as being full age and living in St George in the East. Witnessed by Thomas James and Catherine Haase I can find no trace of Henry’s family in England A Henry Haase aged 28 born 1843 Hamburg is listed on the 1871 census on the ship Jacob Rothenburg at Wapping Dock, Liverpool The surname Hase seems to be an English one, from East Anglia. I would imagine the two are pronounced quite differently. There was a Emma Hase in Holborn on the 1871 census the same age, so the death could be hers. Unable to find her or husband on later census returns.
