The IGI only lists the name eight times for Sussex, eight christenings the latest being 1712 and eight marriages, the latest 1730. There were many variations of the name e.g. Fyffins, Fithian, Fivian, Fivens, Fuffins, Fithyan. There was a family of Fithians in Pulborough, and indeed a Sarah born 1698. Unfortunately she died 1716 Interestingly her name was recorded as Fiffen!
The name was recorded Shipley as Fiffen, Fiven, Fivens, Fevins
Sarah Fiffens my ancestor married 26/5/1724 Wiggonholt cum Greatham Thomas Humphry. I have not been able to find a birth for Sarah but I believe she may have been born in Shipley. An Elizabeth Fiffens born in Shipley in 1702 was probably the Elizabeth Fiffens from Shipley who married in Wiggonholt 1724 too.
Possible Shipley family tree
Buried: possibly 12/7/1706 Shipley however as Mary and Jane Fiffen who were buried in 1707 were described in burial register as his daughters this burial could possibly be for his father? He or his likely son John could have been buried 30/3/1736, John husbandman
