Manufacturer: ZERO GARAGE KITS (JAPAN)
Scale: 1/8
Contents: The model consists of 15 high quality resin castings (10 parts for the bike + 5 for Tetsuo driver figure), 10 white metal parts and 3 vacuformed parts. Japanese high quality light brown resin is used for the majority of the model. A colour photo and an instruction sheet (in English) are included with the kit. No decals were included.
Assembly: The parts need a lot of trimming and sanding.
Modifications and Improvements: I removed the bulky and inaccurate resin tyres with a razor saw and sanded the resin wheel hubs smooth. I then drilled a hole in the middle of the 4 resin hubs and replaced the resin tyres with KYOSHO plastic wheels and vinyl tyres GP-29 (used for Radio Control bike models).
The decals were scratchbuilt from bits and pieces of coloured paper, cannibalised decals, rub-down lettering and logos cut from motor bike magazines and computer catalogues.
I also cut 2 small squares from chrome contact paper to simulate mirrors. Bare metal foil was used to simulate the indicator lights. These were then given 4 coats of Tamiya Clear Orange acrylic paint.
Cement: Cyanoacrylate (super glue), Araldite Rapid and Tamiya Liquid Cement.
Painting: Gunze Sangyo and Tamiya acrylic paints were used throughout.
Resources: Reference to a good Japanese anime book about the subject or Hobby Japan model magazine will provide excellent resource material to help you build this great kit into a wonderful resin masterpiece.
