Chloe Moretz Cast as Toph in TLA Sequel...Maybe

Chloe Moretz will be Hit-Girl in the upcoming Kick-Ass Movie. But How about she is cast as Toph Bei Fong in The Last Airbender Sequel.

Ok Racebeing Aside she would be a perfect fit. She is smart and sassy...why not have her??? She is trained in fighting (for The Kick-Ass Role) she is only 13 and by the time they start principle production for The Last Airbender Sequel she will be 14 or 15. Now on the other side of the argument she is cacasiun and some not all of TLA Fans don't want white-washing in their films. But come on how can you not want an ass-kicking female as Toph?

Empire Magazine has Pics from 'TLA' Set

Now that we've gotten to know Avatar, it's finally time to rediscover Avatar: The Last Airbender, the live-action version. Here's a brand new look at the bald bad-ass Aang, getting his airbending on.

Empire Magazine released a few new stills from The Last Airbender, some even with completed FX, looking golden. Slashfilm managed to get their hands on a few scans from the issue and here's the Aang money shot — he looks both tiny and deadly, perched a top a tiny piece of wood.

The Last Airbender Trailer Delayed

News from The Last Airbender producer Frank Marshall. Marshall posted on  Twitter yesterday stating :

Not enough ILM shots finished, so LAST AIRBENDER trailer will not debut until Feb…

While this news crushes our anticipation of the trailer as a delightful X-mas present, we must remember that February is not that far away and continue to have patience.

The Day Has Come :: Noah Ringer Smiles !!!

Noah Ringer as AangVariety recently wrote up an article about the star of The Last Airbender, Noah Ringer. As you might have noticed, we finally have a picture of him smiling! Anthony D'Alessandro writes about director M. Night Shyamalan's good track record for launching child stars, but how the director found The Last Airbender to be a challenge.

"Typically I'll find the actor and then mold the part to fit the child, but this was a pre-existing character, and I had to hope that this person existed," Shyamalan tells Variety.

After conducting a yearlong worldwide search for a young martial artist to play Aang, the director came across a video from Dallas-based 12-year-old Noah Ringer, who'd heard about Paramount's open audition call through his tae kwon do club.

Touting a first-degree black belt and a proficiency with various Eastern weapons, Ringer not only bore an uncanny resemblance to Aang (complete with shaved head) but also impressed Shyamalan with his sincere gentleness -- a characteristic the director felt was essential to play a monk who brings balance to a warring world.

"Night wanted me to be natural," says Ringer whose first stab at acting came when prepping for the audition. "He didn't want me to be Aang; rather, he wanted Aang to be me."

The Last Airbender Full Trailer coming out during  Christmas

Jackson Rathbone Talks Sokka and Boomerangs

MTV Movie Blog got a hold of Jackson Rathbone at a recent Twilight convention and managed to poke him hard enough to get him to talk about playing Sokka in The Last Airbender.

Jackson Rathbone talks The Last Airbender at Twilight convention"I got to do this fight scene where I get attacked by three different people at the same time; I’m running through a battle trying to find my little sister, worried about where she is, and this guy charges me with a sword! So, I make the split decision to just tackle him, take him straight to the ground, and then someone else comes behind me and tries to slash me in the back - so I pull that guy over me, and he hits his own guy.”

Rathbone said that he enjoyed being an action star. “It was crazy! I’m attacked by three different people [in that scene], and I have to fend them all off with a boomerang! I’m throwing people over my back, I’m constantly being stabbed at -- it was a blast!"
Jackson noted that he had a lot of fun filming the upcoming film based on the animated TV series, adding that he also got to “ride on Appa, that big beast flying-bison creature.”

Shyamalan Lines Up His Cast For "The Last Airbender"

(Jackson Rathbone - Sokka)         (Nicola Peltz - Katara)        ( Jesse McCartney - Zuko?????)

M. Night Shyamalan has found the cast for The Last Airbender, his upcoming live-action film based on the popular anime-inspired Nickelodeon series. The youthful group is mostly filled with unknowns who are likely to be household names by the time Paramount opens the first in its potential three-film franchise in July 2010. After an open casting call in Texas, Shyamalan discovered karate star Noah Ringer and offered him the part of Airbender's 12-year old hero, Aang, an Avatar with superpowers who must stop the Fire Nation from destroying the world. Twilight's Jackson Rathbone has been asked to play Aang's pal Sokka, while Nicola Peltz (Deck the Halls) will star as his sister Katara. Genial singer Jesse McCartney, meanwhile, is negotiating to play against type in the role of the Fire Nation's evil prince Zuko.

The Last Airbender News  :: UPDATE ::

Last week at the 2008 Licensing Expo, the acclaimed director of such films as unbreakable and the sixth sense spoke about his newest project The last Airbender. "It has martial arts and spirituality and the supernatural, and it has Buddhist philosophy and Hindu philosophy–really, everything I talk about–all in one movie. It has a mythology. It’s Shakespearean. It’s all this incredible stuff, and it has a balance. All these movies are plays on magic, whether it’s Lord of the Rings or The Matrix or Star Wars even, and each one of them relates to me in a different

way, in its belief system."
