Full Synopsis -
With the phenomenal record-breaking success of the Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 movies, fans can look forward to future installments in the adventures of Marvel comics webslinging hero. In fact, Marvel Entertainment heads have confirmed that they have plans for at least 6 Spidey movies!James Cameron may have spearheaded "Aquaman" on the HBO series "Entourage," but the "Avatar" filmmaker isn't likely to dive into any other superhero properties. According to Cameron, there's only one spandex-clad hero that's ever tickled his fancy: your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
"Spider-Man was the only one I ever wanted to do," Cameron told MTV News. "I wasn't really personally that driven to do a superhero movie per se, but I wanted to do Spider-Man because he was my guy when I was 14."
With director Sam Raimi attached to "Spider-Man 4," it's unlikely that a Cameron-helmed outing will happen anytime soon. Still, there are plenty of superheroes out there that the acclaimed "Aliens" and "Terminator" director could get involved with -- but according to Cameron's crude breakdown, you shouldn't get your hopes up.
"Spider-Man was the s--- and everybody else sucked," he said of his feelings on superheroes. "Even though I admire some of the other films, I don't feel the need to jump on that bandwagon."
Sounds like an actual Cameron-directed "Aquaman" movie is swimming with the fishes. In fact, the director's closing comments on the superhero genre could be confused as a thinly veiled dig against the film within a television series: "The bottom fish are the ones that haven't been done yet."
Earlier today Sony/Columbia studios confirmed what a lot of sources were saying. Here's the final word from the studio...
"We've heard the from the fans that Carnage is very popular, and we really want to deliver on this one. So, after careful consideration, we've decided that Carnage is going to be the villain that takes center stage in Spiderman 4."
On if Kirsten Dunst has been contacted on returning...
"Yeah, well, a lot of people don't like her, and she's not a natural red-head anyway. It's time for Peter Parker to develop a new love interest in Gwen Stacy (Bryce Howard), so, we'll probably kill off Mary Jane in this one. We're still figuring out how to do it. We want it to be gruesome and dark. It's all about the darkness these days."
Will the Lizard get his shot at villainy in Spidey 4?
"No. The Lizard is lame. (Laughs) That's kind of a running joke at the office. We set up Dr. Connors (who becomes the Lizard) as Peter's college professor from the first movie, and now we're doing 4 & 5 and are STILL passing him by for other characters."
Yesterday was an important part of our history President Barrack Obama took the oath of office. But he appointed Tobey McGuire (SpiderMan) and Brandon Routh (Superman) To help clean up a elementary school.

Speculation about who might be replacing Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man's webbed costume can now come to an end. Both Maguire and director Sam Raimi will be returning for Spider-Man 4, according to Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood, and they may be set to return for Spider-Man 5 as well.
According to the report, the studio is looking to film both films at the same time both for reasons of cost effectiveness and because "it wasn't so easy to get everybody back together."
And just who is 'everybody'? Well, it includes Maguire and Raimi. And it's almost a certainty that Kirsten Dunst will be back as well. According to the report Dunst's Mary Jane Watson will be featured, and Sony would "never recast her."
The script for the film was written by Jamie Vanderbilt, and so far the studio is being tight-lipped about the villain and who might play the character. However insiders say that "once you find out who the villain is, you'll know who is playing it." One thing that is certain however is that it won't be a return of Venom. Spider-Man 4 will not follow the trend of The Dark Knight and "going dark".
Principal photography for Spider-Man 4 begins in the fall of 2009.
On a similar note, while the symbiotic alien costume won't be appearing in Spider-Man 4, Sony has hired screenwriters to begin work on a spin-off Venom film. No word yet on whether or not Topher Grace would return for the starring role.

Sony is looking to move forward on the film revolving around Spider-Man 3 villain Venom, so says The Hollywood Reporter.
The studio is hoping that the spinoff will keep its Spider-Man franchise fresh in the same way the upcoming Wolverine solo movie is continuing the X-Men series.
Jacob Estes (Mean Creek) had previously written a script for Venom but Sony is looking to hire new screenwriters.
The villainous Venom - an alien symbiote - appeared in the third installment of the comic book action franchise, 2007's Spider-Man 3, and inhabited the body of the photojournalist Eddie Brock, played by Topher Grace in the movie.
There is some question whether Grace will return in the lead role. Sony has doubts that he can lead a big budget blockbuster.
The movie will be in addition to the forthcoming Spider-Man 4 film, which is expected to hit cinemas in 2011, according to Empireonline.com.
You've heard about it. You've cringed at the thought. Now the Spider-Man Musical is a step closer to reality with this news release for three starring roles at an open call to be held from 10AM to 5PM on July 28 at the Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard Street in New York City. The Broadway-bound production will feature music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge of the rock super-group U2 and will be directed by Julie Taymor, the Tony Award-winning director of The Lion King.
The news release describes "what we're looking for" at the casting call:
Peter Parker: male, 16-20's. Great Rock voice, can be nerdy with understated sex appeal, good sense of humor.
Mary Jane: female, 16-20's. Beautiful girl next door, strong pop/rock singing voice.
Principal Woman: female, 25-35 years old. Amazing Rock vocals, think Sinead O'Connor with a Middle Eastern /Bulgarian/Greek/ twist. Foreign, world music types are great, foreign accents are great! All ethnicities.
it stipulates...
"We are only looking for these characters at this open call. If you are not right for these characters, you may not be seen. Please prepare 16 bars of a pop/rock song that shows range. Please bring sheet music. Also a photo/resume stapled together, if you have one. It's cool if you don't!"
No dates have been set for a Broadway production of the show.
Sony/Columbia pictures has announced to the LA Times that Spider-Man's 4th theatrical appearance will be in May 2011.
Producer Laura Ziskin says that 4 years os plenty of time to get a script ready and the movie shot. Despite the announcement, neither director Sam Raimi or the stars of past installments have signed on, and there have been rumors floating around the net that a new cast and crew is imminent. That rumor started just after the news was that Spider-Man 4 and 5 would be filmed together.
Asked how he feels about a re-cast he said, "I'd hate to re-cast anybody in the future, I can't imagine that."
If you take just his words at face value, it sounds as though he's ready and willing to do Spidey 4, but I'm a little concerned about the "tone." I know you can't tell for sure how someone sounds in print, but all the "I hope" stuff is a bit disconcerting. I kinda wonder what he is NOT saying.
Marvel comics released a pic yesterday of the newest relative of Venom. Early speculation about the next villain in the Spidey franchise includes "Anti-Venom". or someone people have pointed out a mixture of several villains "The Sinister Six"
Here is some pics....
