Ellalong is a small township, approximately 152.4 kilometres (approx. 2.07 hours) North of Sydney, N.S.W and 10.6 kilometres (approx. 14.5 minutes) South-West of Cessnock, in the Lower Hunter Valley Region, approximately 40 kilometres inland from the City of Newcastle, in the State of New South Wales, Australia. The township is situated approximately 120 metres / 393 ft above sea level and it can be found at the approximate GPS co-ordinates of 32° 52:00 South Latitude, 151° 19:00 East Longitude.
