Driving question- do you feel that you make a difference in the community? I think they do because without construction workers the cities will be dysfunctional. I say this because without construction workers there would be no running water in pipes, electricity, paved roads, houses, buildings, etc
What occupations does this field encompass? Material moving occupation, logging, ground maintenance workers.
What is produced by this field of work? They make sure the whole world pretty much has running water, paved roads, built houses, electricity and buildings
Who is the best of the best? Tapni Underground is the team that I want to get on because they go all over the northwest to take on the hardest jobs and make sure they get done fast and right. The Aerotek is another company I would choose, but they only stay in

What are some of the tasks completed by someone in this occupation? They make sure the cities have plenty of power, water and make sure people are satisfied with the way we function.
Who are some of the major employers in the area? Tapni Underground, Bnet Construction, PlanMagic construction
What are some specific skills needed to be successful in this occupation? You don’t need college, but it would help get the job done faster. But mainly you got to be willing to get dirty and work hard. You got to be skilled with your hands, ‘street smart’ so you don’t screw up bad.
What types of certification, training or degree is needed to begin and advance in this occupation? You can start out at the bottom of the chain and work your way up with no degree at all. But you can speed that up with college education.
What types of training can you do locally to help prepare for this occupation? The community college is a perfect way to learn all the things you need to know for construction.
Typically, how many years of training past high school are needed for an entry level position? You can go into construction right out of high school.
Are there any regions of the state, country or world where there is a higher demand of this occupation? Yes, there are a lot more construction workers needed in the city, a lot more things need to be maintained, updated and fixed. Out in the wilderness where only a few hundred pass through every few months they don’t need them out there.
What are the potential and range for people in this occupation? $35-$45 an hour
Identify whether or not people within this occupation are compensated differently in different geographic regions? Yes, big time. Like I said, the more populated the place is the more construction workers are needed to maintain the city.
What are the opportunities for promotion, movement and growth in this occupation? Yes you can move up depending on how you work. If you’re a hard worker you can get promoted a lot, but if you don’t have good work habits you won’t get promoted.
Why do people work in this field? What keeps them in the field? What do they like most? What do the dislike most? It’s a rewarding job that pays pretty well; it makes them feel good about the community. They stay in the field because they want to say “I built that or paved that” they like knowing that they make a difference. They dislike the weather the most; if it’s rainy they still got to work.
