Happy Bunnies In The Sun

Choosing a bunny as pet ,show or breeding

First, you have to find one!                                                                               There are many places to buy a bunny depending on your budget, but in any event, shop around! Don't just buy the first one you see...be selective in the process and you won't regret it. You can find rabbits many places. Animal Shelters, Rescue Organizations Back Yard Hobbyists, Rabbit Shows and Fairs, Feed Stores, Pet Stores, or Breeders REGISTERED BREEDERS ARE BEST.The Internet offers access to most of these resources as well as newspaper ads, bulletin boards at feed and grocery stores. But I Suggest a registered breeder there are allot around that way you know you are getting a nice healthy quiet pure breed little bunny  or a rescue shelter  witch is also quiet & healthy think also saved one little life.                                                                                                                             Tips on Selection:                                                                                                select the bunny you like, not one that is pushed on you. Consider the seller’s advice about which is healthiest or gentlest but use your own instinct and make a selection that you really love the sex, colour, breed & if you like to get your pet desext as Unneutered males will mark female rabbits and their territory in this manner. Unspayed females can also spray.                                                                                                                                                                                                The first and foremost wherever you buy your rabbit is............CLEANLINESS! How clean is the rabbitry ? A clean rabbitry is a good indication of the health of the animals. Stand back and watch them for a little while. See which are the most active. Is there one that sits off by him? He may not be the one for you ask why he is like that as he may be sick or just plain shy.  Ask if you can open the cage and see which one comes up to greet you. & make sure you hold it to make sure it is quiet, Look for nice weight, bright eyes and healthy coat. The fur doesn't have to be shiny, just thick and resilient. If the fur is very dull and thin, the bunny may a parasite, or simply got "hind teat" in a large litter! Ask to see the teeth or check them yourself. They should close like people teeth, top over bottom. Rub your hands all over the body and feel for any scabs. They may be from litter mates fighting and could abscess or they may be caused by fur mites. Point any out to the owner to see what they have to say about it as they may be aware of it or may not.                                                                           Also check there feet for fur loss Make sure you tell the breeder what type of bunny you won’t example pet, show, and breeding. Check out some different breeds there are allot around now just need to find that perfect one just for you. As a very small bunny may not always be the best choice as these can be very nuverse animals due to there size a medium size bunny may be quieter & less nurverse. Also depends on the age of the child you are buying for let buyer know there age they would be able to send you into the right direction to the best breed for that child. Most important is to have all items needed for the new bunny to come home two. Enjoy.

When you 1st tack bunny home                                                                                                                                         It’s important your new bunny isn’t over handled for the first week you bring him/her home.  Keep the new one in his cage handle just a little a day, this will make her feel secure, and help the little one get to know her new place. After your bun has settled into his new home they will love the interaction with you especially if on there own as they love the interaction of there owners or another bunny friend.                                                                                Its very importent to mix the food that the breeder gives you with your own then feed each day . Cage must be keeped clean & dry always have shelter from rain & sun.                        Rabbits are most active in the morning & at night they generally sleep during the day.                                                                                                                                    Toys & exercise Rabbits. Things they can climb on crawl through dig in & to chew on. you can do these things buy using normal household items such as toilet roll tubes & cardboard boxes buy putting holes in these boxes to make tunnels like there normal warren put wooden ramps against the boxes for climbing can make a tub, bucket with dirt in it for digging in they also love tennis balls sticks things they can chew & throe around. Funny but true.
