THE MORGAN HORSE

This is Sugar Pine's Sweet Lily, an eight year old Morgan Horse mare.  She is being ridden by her owner and trainer, Charles Seddon.  Charles has owned her since she was a two year old and continues to train her and advance her versatile options.  Lily has been in 4-H and open shows, parades, barrel racing, drill team, trail rides, reining and cutting clinics, and more.  NOW SOLD!

The picture above was taken last fall during the Alaska State Fair where Charlie and Lily take part in a Morgan Horse demonstration with the Alaska Morgan Horse Club.  Morgans are so steeped in American history that they are seen commonly in historical pictures throughout the United States.  Here Charles rides as General Phillip Sheridan of the Union Army Calvary.  Entire calvary units rode Morgan Horses and ONLY Morgans because of their thriftiness, hardiness, and companionable working attitudes.   After the civil war, many of these horses were used out west on cattle drives.  This is a horse that can do it all; from saddle to harness!

NEW OWNER:

Lily now belongs to 9 year old Evan Harris of Anchorage!  Evan rides with the Midnight Run Pony Club and will enjoy participating in dressage and jumping with her new mount.  Congratulations Evan!  We wish you many wonderful years and adventures with this very sporting mare.

Lily

Charlie has owned, trained, and shown Lily since he was 10 and she was 2 years of age.  Here are some old pictures that are my favorites of the dynamic duo!

Charlie shows Lily in the Alaska Morgan Horse Show in 2003.

Here they are again at the same show a year later.

Charlie and Lily get ready to do a trail class in 2004.

Angel

Angel is a 28 year old Quarter Horse/Belgium X mare.  Everybody rides her, but her favorite has always been Edward.  He used her in shows, parades, gymkhana, camping, trails, cart rides, sleigh rides, and more.  Angel is our rock.  She stablizes the herd no matter where we go.

Edward pulled purple ribbons in Showmanship and Stock Seat Equitation with Angel.

What Angel lacked in speed, she more than made up for with her steady, reliable nature.

This is the mount for any knight that has a battle to win!

No job is too big or too small for Angel.  She tolerates all types of nonsense.

Maggie May

It doesn't seem fair to mention the horses and leave out our beloved Maggie.  This wonderful Morgan/Arabian mare was our first horse and an important 'nanny' that started our boys in horses.  No horse could have more personality and offer more memorable moments than this girl, and we will never let her importance fade in our hearts.

At age 29, Maggie struggled with insurmountable health issues.  In September of 2006, our beloved companion was returned to our Lord.

Ever tolerant, she patiently endured whatever the kids wanted.

Pretty Maggie could bring a smile to any rider's face.

Excellent nanny that she was, Maggie would rarely let the kids out of her sight.

We know that Maggie is somewhere, enjoying a good frolic in the snow!

What's this?

I found this while digging through the old files.  Here I thought there were no pictures of me and I find this treasure!

This is not my horse!

Oooh....another neat picture from the archives.  This is Cameron riding Lightning, a horse that Edward was training that belonged to Chris and Kim Zello.  What a pleasure this Tennessee Walking Horse was to ride.
