MOPS is a support organization for mothers of preschoolers (children between the ages of 0-5). Sumter MOPS meets regularly every Thursday of the month at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 9:00-11:30 a.m. with daycare provided. The annual cost for joining is $70, which includes the cost of the daycare and membership to MOPS International. Scholarships are available. Each Sumter MOPS meeting centers on an issue relevant to mothers of preschoolers and speakers present their expertise on these topics and answer questions. Issues will also be tackled in smaller groups. These smaller groups will be led by returning MOPS members and Mentor Moms. In addition, there is time devoted for members to get to know one another over breakfast snacks and craft projects. This year’s theme is the TOGETHER ON PLANET MOM. The MOPS Experience equips women for the joys and challenges of their lives as moms. One key factor in the MOPS Experience is the relationships built within a group. Time and time again, MOPS moms share that the friends they make in MOPS are significant for this season of their life and on into their future. God created us for relationship! It’s one of the defining parts of being human. In addition to regular meetings, MOPS meets once a month for Mommy and Me activities. These activities focus on kids’ interests and include visits to venues in Sumter and in neighboring communities. We will also have For Moms Only nights every month when we will either get together at a local restaurant or for another fun activity.
