How It All Got Started

I guess you can say if it wasn't for my best friend, Jessica, I probably wouldn't be raising rabbits at all. She took me to one of her 4-H meetings and I was going to show horses, but figured it wasn't for me.  I was going to drop out of 4-H when my club leader told me that I could do a rabbit project. I told her I would think about it. I wasn't sure because the only thing I knew about rabbit was they were adorable.

About 3 weeks later, I went to my aunt's house to visit while my parents went shopping.  When they came back, thay had a black Polish buck. He was so small. I named him Boomer because he makes a loud booming sound when he hops.

That year, I showed Boomer at the fair and did showmanship. I tied for first in showmanship. All I can remember is the big puffy bunny that looked like a dog and wondered why anyone would put eye liner around their bunnies eyes.

After the fair, I went to the state show to look at all the different bunnies. There was some huge ones there. I didn't know that a bunny could get so big. There, I bought my first Holland Lop. I named him Lucky and the name sure fits him. That following year he won Best In Show at my county fair, about died from a heat stroke, survived after getting deathly sick, and is still showing well.

I continued to expand my rabbitry with even more Holland Lops. Some of my favorite are THF Saynora's Zweetums (I call Zoey) and THF Saynora's Patrik (I call Charmed). Alot of my Holland Lop Foundation have THF Saynora in their pedigrees.

Last year, I went with my best friend Jessica to Lolly's Lops rabbitry in West Virginia so she could bring home a junior Netherland Dwarf. When I got there, I found out that there was a sister to the baby she was getting. Her name was Lolly's Bridget. That's where I got hooked into showing Netherland Dwarfs.

My Thank You's

Sulphur Spring Rabbitry would not be complete without thanking some of the many people who have helped me along the way.

First, I would like to thank Jessica for getting me started in  4-H. I wouldn't even have rabbits if it wasn't for her and her quarter a month story. My 4-H leader Jenny, for suggesting a rabbit project for me to do instead to dropping out. The local breeders who gave me advice; especially Tonya for suggesting I attend an ARBA sanctioned show.

Next, the majority of my success on the judging table & in raising all my breeds goes to Tracy Lukeman of THF Saynora Rabbitry. My Holland Lop Foundation mostly goes back to her rabbitry. She continues to give me advice on showing, breeding, improving my website, and much more. I appreciate everything she has done to help me. Thanks a bunch Tracy! (All you really have to do is look at THF Saynora's Zweetums & THF Saynora's Patrik and you will understand my gratitude to her.)

I would also like to thank Adore's Rabbitry for helping me with my Polish Rabbits, Lolly's Lops (Lauren & Betty) for getting me started with my first Netherland Dwarf & adding to my Holland Lops, Mr. Hopper for helping me learn more about Netherland Dwarfs and starting me out with my Tan Pattern herd buck Shadow, and the endless list of rabbit breeders & judges who have given me advice or helped me to increase the quality of my rabbits over the years.
