Miniature Horses

Our Rainbow Bridge

We knew sooner or later we would have to start this page, but we were hoping much, much later, but that wasn't ment to be.

It is with great sadness in our hearts that I place our Bunny on this page.  Bunny passed away on November 11, 2006.  We laid Bunny to rest on our farm in a quiet side pasture.

She was a Beauty.  Bunny had a brief show career at Onthebit Stable in Jordon, Ontario.  Bunny was an independent, moody, showy little mare that has caught our heart. She set about teaching all the things us humans need to know about being with these miniature horses- and doing an excellent job at it.   We were  so happy that she has given us our very first foal of the farm Sugartowns Stryker. We had ambitious plans for Bunny.

We do have Bunny's only two offspring, Krissy and Stryker and have just as high hopes for them as we did for Bunny. Through her excellent mothering skills she has passed on that flash and flare as well as her beauty to her offspring.   She was a very good teacher and will be greatly missed.

Daisy

Daisy Layed to Rest December 20, 2006

It took me a year to place Daisy on this page, not because she didn't deserve it but because her loss was so profound to us.  We had such extreme hopes that we could make Daisys life so much better.

Dasiy came to stay with us along with her colt Boots and her companion Danny Boy.  Daisy suffered from sever founder and was in foal when she arrived. Daisy lost her foal in November 2006.   Daisy’s' stay with us was brief but she has left a mark on our hearts that will stay with us forever.  She taught us many things and the most important lesson she left us with was the lesson of compassion.   We are entrusted with the complete care of the animals that stay with us. The animals trust us to keep them safe, warm, feed, loved and healthy, we are also entrusted to end their suffering when they no longer have the ability to enjoy a pain free life.  It is with this in mind that Daisy was relieved of her painful body and laid to rest in our pasture beside her foal.  Many people where with Daisy, in mind, body and spirit as she made a pain free and peaceful journey to her final resting place.

I would be remiss if I did not mention on behalf of Daisy a few things about her character.  Daisy was a fighter, for good and bad, that girl knew how to stick in there and not give up.  It was a complete miracle that she lived through her foaling out her last foal.  It was a complete miracle that she lived through the pain every day from her sore feet.  Daisy started losing her eyesight in the end, and along with a few new medical conditions, she still did not give up.  I will always remember her for her great strength of body and will.  But I will also remember her for the unusually peace that came over her when the decision was finally made to let her go and how unusually peaceful she was when she left us.  She was ready and Thankful to move on to a better life.

There are many people to Thank for there help in making Daisy’s life as comfortable as possible, Daisy’s biggest benefactors where the angels from Chances Miniature Horse Rescue ( who put there mind bodies and souls into their often difficult works) , along with a young lady who made Daisy’s day much more brighter Jessie.

And I have to Thank the friend who would stand by me in freezing cold weather, falling in mud puddles, physically exhaust ourselves and help me prepare the ground and lay Daisy to rest peacefully.   Thank You.
