S.H.C organise the very popular OWN _ A _PONY Day's. We have been doing so for almost 20years,every school holidays , initially in response to riding customers wanting to experience "hands on" horse ownership before buying.

Our program for the day has always been aimed at persons wanting to learn the basics of horse ownership under the watchful attention of our staff.

Open to all persons 7years and above- even grandparents are welcome. Experience can be little or lots. The days begin at 9am with a discussion on how & why the horse works as it does and safety precautions around horses are explained this leads into the need for,and mechanics of grooming and before ride attention to your horse.

Participants are then shown how to saddle our horses,and they are allocated their horse for the day,and then get to have a go at grooming and saddling them selves under helpful instructors.

After this we go on a ride for approx 2 hours of bush riding with riding assistance for everyone.

Back to the farm a BBQ lunch awaits,during which some horse health matters are disscussed with questions and answers given.

After lunch another 1-2hours of riding. Finishing the day with unsaddleing and grooming or washing down as if it was your own horse.

The day finishes at 4pm.
