Hi, welcome to my website!
"Marti's experience is extensive, from recording at Rockfield and Loco studios to live TV performances on Bravo, ITV and YTV.
His influences are diverse, blending funk, soul, rock and jazz fusion, he believes above all, music should communicate emotion and spirit.
I was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, I am now based in Islington, London. My career as a performing musician began at the age of eight when I began Spanish classical guitar lessons, as I reached my early teens my interest turned to electric guitar and the desire to join a band naturally followed, soon I was playing in several local bands and upon leaving school I enrolled at music college.
Leaving college I discovered my true calling as a bassist, and began a five year period working as a professional musician on the club circuit in the north/north east and Wales gaining very valuable experience, playing a wide variety of styles and learning the art of winning over legendarily tough audiences !
Following that I started working with a number of original artists performing mainly on the south coast, London and Oxfordshire. During this period I had the pleasure of working with a number of very talented musicians, and clocking up hundreds of hours in studios such as Rockfield and Loco and many others, playing with these bands also introduced me to T.V. work, and I have so far performed live on I.T.V (Raw Power), Bravo (The Basement), Y.T.V. (Calendar).
Recently I have been gigging on the London circuit with a range of different original artist from experimental dance/techno, blues, funk, heavy rock and acoustic folk/pop.
Mark "Buck" Buckle (Ian Gillan)

I worked with Buck in his studio in Oxford following his tour and album as keyboard player with Ian Gillan of Deep Purple, we spent many hours honing and perfecting parts and performances along with awesome vocalist Spencer Jones, this was the most creative point of my musical life at that point, breaking away from the generic rock I had been involved in previously and learning to embrace and project the whole spectrum of musical styles and emotions, we gigged under the name of Piece in and around Oxford, the pinacle of which was a private performance for Jools Holland's manager and a live performance on Radio One's Rock City.
Ian Jones (Blitzkreig/Metalica/Faith no more)

I met Ian through my work with Buck as he played guitar on and engineered a number of tracks on our album and he displayed considerable talent in both, he later called upon me to provide the bass end for his new artist Findlay Webster's debut EP, and a live performance on Bravo TV.
Steve Glover (Statetrooper)I worked with Steve during my time in Doncaster, gigging on the original circuit and writing and recording demo's at my old friend and guitarist Richard Hilton's studio, it was always enjoyable work and I learnt a lot from his considerable experience.
Steve was and is again the keyboard player with Statetrooper, he has also worked as a professional session musician and toured extensively with Statetrooper, Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy), Vamp and many others.
The Bass School (Samurai studios, London)
I enrolled on the 10 week modern bass techniques course and my tutor kindly allowed me to sleep on his sofa when I was there, as a gigging musician this proved to be the first of many nights spent on sofas, floors, dressing rooms and in transit vans !!!. Seriously though this course really set me on the correct road as a bassist.
Samurai Studios was built in an old debtors prison two floors below ground! It was originally built by Iron Maiden and was a used as a rehearsal/recording studio for many signed bands during the eighties.
The Bass Institute (The bass Centre, Wapping).
I took private lessons here and they were extremely useful, both musically and with career advice.
Paul Westwood (author of Bass Bible)

I had private lessons with Paul at his home, not only was he the best bassist I have ever seen but also one of the nicest guys a person could ever wish to meet, The few lessons I had with him advanced my playing by 10 years easily !
For those of you who don’t know who he is, here is a small part of the list of people he has worked with:
George Martin, Wayne Shorter, Barbara Thompson, John Hiseman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Phil Ramone, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Hans room, The Sex Pistols, Charles Aznavour, Steve Gadd, Larry Coryell, Joe Beck, Madonna..............
