Past News
June 22, 2003- The Burn took on a struggling Rapids team at Dragon Stadium last night, and came out on top for their second win of the season, with a 3-1 win. Goals were scored by Jason Kreis, Brad Davis, and Joselito Vaca.
Also, the Burn played the Chicago Fire on June 18th, and suffered a 4-1 loss. The good part about it though, is that Ryan scored his first goal of the 2003 season. Congrats to Ryan!
June 17, 2003- Well, I got a bit behind on the updates, very busy week for me last week, but luckily not too much happened, but let me hit on what did...
- Dallas Morning News Article by Steve Davis, 'Coach has simple message for Suarez'
- The Burn suffered a 2-1 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes. The game was tied 1-1 but Arturo Alvarez scored a last minute goal in the 87th minute to give San Jose the win.
- In the scrimmage against the Texas Spurs last week, the Burn won 5-0, with free kicks by Brad Davis and Antonio 'Chivas' Martinez, and goals by Bobby Rhine, Ronald Cerritos, and Paul Broome.
- The Frisco Stadium concept plan has taken on a better look, the article can be reached by clicking the link below.
June 10, 2003- The Burn will be playing a scrimmage against the Texas Spurs (PDL) on Wednesday, June 11th at UTD at 7:30 pm. Admission is $5 for Adults and $3 for Children. The Burn will most likely field a mix of starters and reserves, and the Spurs coach used to play for the Burn and was asst. coach for a while, so it should be a good game. Come out and support the Burn!
June 4, 2003- Andrew Monfried of US Soccer has interviewed Ryan again, the interview can be found HERE, and also by clicking 'Interviews' on the menu. Also, Andrew Monfried's November 2002 interview with Ryan has been moved to the Archives page.
June 3, 2003- In honor of Ryan's first cap with the National team, 3rdDegree created this wallpaper. Check it out! Very cool.
June 1, 2003- The Burn have finally found their first win, thanks to goals by Jason Kreis, Chris Gbandi, a PK from Ronald Cerritos, and many injured DC players. Congrats to the Burn, who are now 1-3-3. If anyone caught the game on TV, hope the cameras caught the Inferno signs, many were pretty rude, yet funny. I myself was on crutches and in a knee brace (I actually hurt my knee, didnt need the crutches though) with a sign around my neck saying "Dema Got Me" . Apparently, Sir Hack A Lot wasn't too pleased, it seems he wanted to come have some words with me about it, but Hristo Stoitchkov pulled him back. July 2nd can not come fast enough, it should be another fun game.
May 28, 2003- Photos from the US/Wales game are up! Check 'em out!
May 26, 2003- Congratulations to Ryan for his first USMNT Cap! Ryan started the friendly vs. Wales and played 77 minutes as a very effective defender. Rob Stone and Tommy Smyth were talking about him for quite a bit actually. The Game Summary will be up sometime tomorrow afternoon, as it's very late right now, and well...I gotta go to bed. hehe. Thanks for your patience. The summary can be found HERE.
May 25, 2003- Well, It's finally summer. woohoo! Some major things to say here, so...
- May 17th . LA @ Burn . 1-1 tie, with Burn score by Brad Davis, followed by a fence-hop/run into the Inferno. If you go to the MLSnet past goal of the week thing, you can watch it. I had to download realplayer to be able to watch any of their clips, but it was worth it. Go check it out!
- May 24th. Burn @ Metrostars. 2-1 loss, with Burn score by Jason Kreis. Clint Mathis and Steve Jolley both put one past DJ for the Metros.
- Ryan has been called up for the May 26 friendly btwn the USMNT and Wales. There's actually a good probability that he'll start. We looked at all the other players, and past lineups, and probable lineups, and any way we looked at it, it seems as though he may get some playing time. Go Ryan!
- The USMNT played a match against San Jose on Friday, and I'm happy to say that Ryan got playing time in the match. Congrats Ryan!
- Like I said, I was going to add an Archives page (which I did), so I could transfer the US/Mex. game stuff onto there. I actually deleted that US/Mex. page, but it still shows up. I have absolutely no idea why. I'm working on that.
- I'll be doing another Game Summary for tomorrow's friendly, but I think I'll post it directly on the archives page, because I don't particularly want a non-existent US/Mexico page AND a US/Wales page. But keep looking back here, because whatever happens, I'll post here.
- Game Summary (US vs. Wales) can be found HERE starting about two hours after the game.
- More pictures up. Go check 'em out.
- Yep, I realize most of the news that was here is missing. It's on the Archives page now, so if there was something you wanted to see, go there, I kept most of the important stuff.
I know that took a while, thanks! And everyone, make sure you come to the game Saturday the 31st. Burn vs. DC United, Dragon Stadium, 8 pm. Be there so you can yell at Dema "Hack you very much" Kovalenko (as Ryan dubbed him) with the rest of the Inferno.
May 12, 2003- Ryan is still doing 'Inside Stuff' with 3rdDegree, new installment can be viewed HERE.
Also, the Burn 'reserves' (pretty much anyone who didn't play in the KC game)...played in a game against Lake Charles PDL team and won 3-0. I must have missed something, because somehow Matt Behncke ended up in goal, and Jeff Cassar was playing as a Forward. Hmm...
May 4, 2003-Burn (0) @ DC (0). The good part about this game is we get a point on the road. The bad part is that Dema Kovalenko tackled Ronnie O'Brien and broke ROB's leg. ROB is out for the season, has had surgery to put a rod in his leg, and the rod will stay in for a year. He can play with the rod, but he's still going to be out for the season. This does, as you may have guessed, cause somewhat of a problem for the Burn on the right side. Joselito Vaca may fill the spot, but there has also been speculation that Brad Davis could go in behind Eddie Johnson. We'll see how things play out for the Burn in their first game without ROB, against Kansas City, this Saturday, 7:30 PM at Dragon Stadium.
April 23, 2003- One new thing, every so often I'm going to put a new Poll up. Probably about every two months or so, we'll see how it goes. You can reach the newest poll by clicking Here, or on the menu bar by clicking 'Poll'.
Dallas Cup Final Standings- SuperGroup: 1. Tigres of Mexico 2. US U17s 3. CD Guadalajara 4. Newcastle United
April 17, 2003- Today it was announced that a MLS Players Union (MLSPU) has been formed. Go here for the full article.
April 4, 2003- Last night at the O.H. Bobby Rhine convinced me to put his site back up. It'll be HERE once its fully running again. This summer, I'm also thinking about creating a site for another Burn player(s), possibly DJ Countess or Ronnie O'Brien. I'll be sure to post here if anything happens.
March 18, 2003- Added some new banners. Please feel free to link us from any of your sites. Doesn't really even have to be a soccer related site, I'm linked off quite a few random sites. hehe. Please do let me know if you're going to link us though, email me at webmaster@suarezfans.cjb.net.
March 17,2003- Happy St. Patricks Day to all you leprechauns out there.
Props to Ryan for this...must've made this kids day...this happened when the team went to board the bus back to the hotel.
Outside the locker room is a kid in a wheelchair with his father. Ryan Suarez gets a practice penny (which says Dallas Burn on it) and has the team sign it for the kid. Nice gesture when a handshake and a sentence or two would have been enough.
March 2, 2003- 3rdDegree has an interesting feature on their site. Ryan is corresponding from the hotel in Florida with them, I believe just letting the outsiders in on what happens in camp. Click here for the link. The Burn will be traveling to Chile for two weeks soon, Buzz from 3rdDegree will be traveling with the team, so check back to 3rdDegree for daily updates.
