Saleen

S7-R # 26 - 2001 12Hr Sebring

1:1 Car Info

Model Info

Team: Konrad Team Saleen

Driven by: Konrad (A) / Borcheller (US) / Gavin (GB)

Result: Winner in GTS Class

(IXO  1:43)

This was the first IXO model I bought.  The livery is particularly attractive with the multi-tone blue colours.  There are fine details like rivets and a roll cage that make the budget price seem that much of a deal!

Team: Vitaphone Racing

Driven by: Alzen (D) / Bartels (D)

See above comments.  One thing that would make the model a little more accurate would be the addition of an antenna on top of the car.

S7-R # 66 - 2006 Le Mans

Model Info

Team: ACEMCO

Driven by: T. Borcheller (US) / J. Mowlem (GB) / C. Fittipaldi (BR)

Result: 5th in GT1 Class

(IXO  1:43)

This IXO model is amazing!  The most noticeable improvement on it are the very thin aerials.  Usually, 1/43 models have thick aerials and that is what gives the scale away.  But I challenge you to figure out from the photos themselves to see if this could be a 1/18 with its proportioned aerials.

S7-R # 54 - 2007 Le Mans

1:1 Car Info

Model Info

Team: Oreca

Driven by: Groppi (F) / Prost (F) / Belloc (F)

Result: 10th Overall

(No Name  1:43)

I got this at a discounted price with no box but appears it was made by IXO.  It appears IXO got the rights to prodcue the #54 Oreca car only while Spark got the rights for the #55.  Comparing this to Spark version, The quality of the latter is much better.  One weakness of this car is the decals.  The Matmut logo on the hood has already torn.  Some of the plastic molded pieces like the rear diffuser is a bit rougher as I can see the mold lines.

Team: Oreca

Driven by: Ayari (F) / Ortelli (F) / Lapierre (F)

Result: 16th Overall

(Spark  1:43)

The livery is particularly attractive with the red and bllue.  While Spark models are generally about twice as expensive as IXO, you do get more quality.  The only hitch is that  their level of consitency is not that high.  So, checking  the model in person before buying is a good idea.  I carefully scrutinized three S7-Rs before deciding to buy this one.

Sauber

Sauber-Mercedes C9 # 63 "Michelin" - 1987

1:1 Car Info

Model Info

Race: German Supercup 1987

Driven by: M. Thackwell (GB)

The 1987 Sauber racing schedule was aggressive. The goal was not to seriously contest any championship, but to develop the new C9 as rapidly as possible. A week before the C9's World Sportscar debut, the C9 had been entered in the first round of the German Supercup. Sadly, the team never made it. At Hockenheim, Mike Thackwell drove the C9 to a third place on the grid but was unable to complete the race distance.

(Exoto  1:18)
This car is definitely the "crown jewel" of my collection.  It is fantastically detailed in way that makes any fan of model cars drool.  The engine bay is so intricate that a person would be challenged to discover all the little details.  The wheel assembly is recreated so that it looks like the real thing in the way the wheel mounts onto the hub.  There is even a moving sequential shifter!

Spyker C8 Double 12R # 85 - 2003 Le Mans

A very well made and detailed resin model.  The decal are crisp and paint is beautifully finished on the car.
