Zonda # 61 - 2003 Le Mans

1:1 Car Info

Model Info

Team: Carsport America

Driven by: Mike Hezemans (NL) / David Hart (NL) / Anthony Kumpen (B)

Result: Did Not Qualify (Gearbox - 10 laps)

(Spark Model 1:43)
I bought this model after I purchased the #60 Zonda from the 2004 Le Mans version.  The paint on this earlier model is defintiely not as good since the metallic flakes are a bit large.  The overall finish seems a bit crude also.

Team: Force One Racing

Driven by: David Hallyday (F) / Anthony Kumpen (B)

Result: Did Not Qualify

(Spark Model 1:43)
Overall, I am quite impressed by their quality.  It is by far better than Spark Model's earlier Zonda release (see above).  The paint is applied evenly and the interior details are well-crafted. However, the wheels are not as smooth around the edge as I would expect.  However, the interior details are quite sharp as are the pieces on the rear of the model.

Team: Panoz Motor Sports

Result: did not finish (Gearbox) - 236 laps

(Johnny O'Connell's autopgraph appears under the hood.)

(Autoart  1:18)
Autoart has done a very good job making this.  You can see their standards are very high with the exterior.  The one shortcoming is that the engine looks a bit lacklustre and plasticky.  The silver paint is particularly good as there are no oversized sparkly paint flecks.

Peugeot

This model is made quite well all in all. The decals do appear a little glossy while the paint is completely flat black.

(Minichamps 1:43)
Overall, I am quite impressed by their quality.  The paint is applied evenly and the interior details are well-crafted. However, the wheels are not as smooth as I'd expect. This also seems to apply to a few other Minichamps' 1/43 cars I have.

GT1 #30 - 1997 FIA GT

Model Info

Driven by: M .Wallinder / J. Grealey / G. Lister

(UT 1:18)
Overall, this is a nice model.  The wheels show no signs of peeling or discolouration. One drawback is the use of decals for the yellow wavey stripes. Some edges are starting to lift off on my car.

Model Info

Team: Zakspeed

Driven by: Armin Hahne (D) / Andreas Scheld (D)

(Maisto 1:18)
Maisto's line of GT cars are very good for the money they are usually sold for.  The paint is pretty good though it isn't always applied on the hidden portions of the body.  The car does have working suspension and the interior is reasonable in spite of having a bit too much look like carbon fibre.

It's really fantastic to have a model of the very same car that I saw in 2007 at the Mosport track. The photos to the bottom we taken by myself on the Saturday test and qualifying day.
