About the Show

Sebastian, an orphan boy living near the Pyrenees Mountains in France, has never had a good friend. The children in town taunt him because he was raised by his adoptive grandfather and never knew his real mother. But one day, Sebastian meets a large white Pyrenees dog who escaped into the countryside. Everyone calls the dog "the White Monster," accusing her of terrible crimes. Only Sebastian knows that she is innocent. Awed by her gentle nature and beauty, he befriends her and names her Belle. Soon after, Sebastian learns that his mother promised to come back for him one day, but he decides to search for her himself with the help of his new friend Belle and his little dog Poochie. Together, they set off on their journey, vowing to travel as far and wide as it takes to find Sebastian's mother and elude those who seek to capture Belle.

Belle and Sebastian, based on Cecile Aubrey's popular children's book series, first appeared on television as a live action series in France. A fifty-two-episode animated series was made for Japanese television in 1981, with the English dub airing on Nickelodeon from 1984-1990. The tale comprises a linear storyline, wonderful characters and animation, and a gorgeous soundtrack that will delight children and adults alike.

About the DVDs

Belle and Sebastian is available in a complete set of eight DVDs containing all fifty-two episodes from the cartoon series and includes a professional DVD case featuring quality custom cover art and an episode list insert. Each DVD has menus with sound for easy selection of episodes, which have been conveniently put into chronological order. Belle and Sebastian is available for the very first time on DVD from this site only.

This set comes on DVD-R, which will play on most DVD players as well as a computer with a DVD-ROM drive and appropriate DVD-viewing software. Please make sure you will be able to play DVD-Rs by checking out Videohelp.com before ordering.

The quality is an eight out of ten (see the screen capture links above for examples). This is the highest quality set available, and in fact, the only set available at this time. I spent months capturing, digitally restoring, and converting the entire series to DVD format for the first time ever. This ensures quality every time you watch, unlike VHS tapes, which deteriorate over time.

Return Policy

All discs are checked to be in perfect working condition before they are shipped, but in the unlikely event that any disc is damaged during shipping or not functioning properly, you may return the faulty disc(s) and I will replace them for free. Due to the nature of these discs (in that they can be copied relatively easily) and the fact that the price you pay is for time and materials, I do not issue refunds, only replacements. This is why it is important to make sure that you understand what a DVD-R is and whether your DVD player will be able to play it before you order.

If you do have any problems with the discs or need a replacement, I'm always available to help out and answer any questions you may have.
